A brand new report has revealed additional details about Thekla’s early contract renewal with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), which she signed at the top of March.
As we previously reported here on eWn, the reigning AEW Women’s World Champion agreed to a brand new take care of the corporate lower than a 12 months after initially signing — well before her existing contract, which was set to run through mid-2027, was on account of expire.
In line with a report from Fightful Select, AEW officials have been highly impressed with Thekla’s performance since her arrival and were wanting to secure her on a longer-term agreement. She enlisted representation for the negotiations and ultimately landed a big pay increase as a part of the brand new deal.
The report also notes that her representatives anticipated potential interest from WWE if she had reached free agency. Nevertheless, the extension was finalized early enough that those discussions never materialized.
Thekla captured the AEW Women’s World Championship from Kris Statlander on the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite and has held the title for 53 days. She is scheduled to defend the championship against Jamie Hayter at AEW Dynasty on April 12, live from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, airing on pay-per-view.
