Former India player Sunil Gavaskar has raised concerns about Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Cameron Green in the continued Indian Premier League (IPL). Green, who KKR bought for an enormous Rs 25.2 crore, has not yet been cleared to bowl by Cricket Australia’s medical team as well.

Furthermore, he has managed scores of just 18 and a couple of in his first two outings as well. Gavaskar also suggested that KKR should consider adding an additional specialist batter, stating that Green’s inability to bowl has massively affected the team’s overall balance.

“KKR might want to take into consideration their combination if Cameron Green will not be going to bowl. If he isn’t contributing with the ball, then they may have to think about bringing in one other specialist batter,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Gavaskar also added that while Cameron Green is able to batting at No. 4, KKR must work on their struggles within the lower middle order.

“We all know he has scored 100 within the IPL and that he can bat well, but his form hasn’t been great recently. Yes, he scored 100 in a red-ball game in Australia not way back, but that is where the team must look closely on the numbers. Green at No. 4 is superb, but the larger concern appears to be the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, where they seem like struggling a bit,” he further added.

Nonetheless, despite not bowling up to now, Cameron Green has been seen bowling during practice sessions, hinting at a possible return as a bowler as his recovery progresses. Notably, KKR have lost each of their clashes up to now and can play Punjab Kings next on Monday.
