During a recent interview with US Weekly, AJ Lee opened up about keeping her marriage to CM Punk off social media for nearly a decade.
She revealed that she guards things that feel personal. Now 12 years in, Lee is more open and loves sharing the road along with her husband in WWE.
You may take a look at some highlights from the interview below:
On maintaining some privacy on social media: “I don’t really take pictures of my house. I didn’t discuss my relationship for like a decade. I don’t think I even posted my husband on Instagram. I’m pretty private in regards to the stuff that I feel is just mine.
“But after I feel like there’s stuff either I’ve passed through or learned from and I can share that with people and make them feel less alone, then I’m so glad to be an open book. I feel that’s why I actually have this relationship with my fans that feels so tight and everlasting. They’re so good to me because we’ve been vulnerable with one another in that way.”
On being private about her marriage: “I used to be very, very, very private with him. But I just felt like, ‘OK, I feel we’re 12 years in. Let’s acknowledge we’re married.’”
On being back in WWE as a married couple: “It’s interesting because we weren’t married the last time. It’s just bizarre. I used to be wrestling for perhaps a yr in the course of the marriage. So that is the primary time on the road as a married couple. It’s so nice to have the ability to bring home with you. It’s all very calm. I can at all times find him at catering or see him within the halls. That’s very, very comforting to me.
“A beautiful thing is to have the ability to admire your spouse. I get to admire how well he’s doing and the way respected he’s and the way much fun he’s having. That’s a blast.”
Trick Williams has big praise for Jelly Roll in WWE.
During a recent appearance on the “Rory and Mal” podcast, Williams called the rapper a natural who gets it instantly. He even noted that Jelly Roll prayed backstage before going out and taking an RKO from Randy Orton.
You may take a look at some highlights from the podcast below:
On Jelly Roll’s work in WWE: “Jelly Roll — let me inform you, man. He’s a dude who just stepped into the business and similar to, he understood it naturally. He did [an] open poem with Kit Wilson a pair weeks ago [on SmackDown] and man! He’s a natural, man. He had the group rocking. I forgot. I said, ‘Oh yeah, you do that.’”
On his passion for the business: “He loves it. And he’s dead serious about it. I see him pacing forwards and backwards backstage like, ‘Man, I got to kill this. I got to be sure that it’s right.’ He went out — , this was last Friday. Before he goes out he says, ‘Brother Trick, are you a believer?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘Can I pray?’ He prayed for himself before he
went out and performed. He ended up taking an RKO from Randy Orton, but he prayed about it. [laughs] However the brother looked good. That’s all I used to be saying, the brother looked good.”
On Lil Yachty: “I’m excited to see what Yachty can do within the business. He said he desires to feel the cables. He said he going to get in tip top shape. We got him in a trainer. We’re fitting to get Yachty ready.”
Trick Williams is pumped for WrestleMania 42, where he faces Sami Zayn for the WWE United States Title on April 19.
During a recent interview with The Sun, Williams addressed the potential of Carmelo Hayes joining the match, saying he would hate to embarrass his former friend on the most important stage.
You may take a look at some highlights from the interview below:
On his fan response within the UK: “Man, the response in London was crazy. I heard that it’s at all times an awesome crowd in London, but I’m glad I get to experience it firsthand. I mean, that’s my first time wrestling in Europe and seeing how whoop that trick would travel, , across the Atlantic. And it traveled just advantageous. And the group, man! Like y’all is passionate over there in London, man. I can’t wait to return.”
On the way it feels to be facing Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42: “Last yr, Stand and Deliver, all of us had something to prove; myself, Oba [Femi], and Je’von [Evans], and here we’re a yr later, on the approach to WrestleMania night two against Sami Zayn, the gingerbread man. It’s an unbelievable feeling to have the ability to be at WrestleMania. But one thing about Trick Williams is, the larger the lights, the larger the stage, the more that I show out. And that’s what WrestleMania is, the most important stage, the brightest lights. It’s time to point out everybody what Trick Williams is about. So, man, I’m excited. I’m on cloud nine. I can’t wait. I got 8 more days to point out everybody what Trick Williams is about to do.”
On Carmelo Hayes potentially being added to the match: “We definitely have a story and, , so far as what it will mean to the people, I feel that’d be a wonderful moment. But the reality is, whoever is in front of me got to get it. And as much as I care about Carmelo Hayes and as much of a friend that he once was to me, I don’t need to beat him down on the most important stage of all of them like that and embarrass him for his first WrestleMania. I feel that’d be a bit cruel to try this to one in all your mates, but, , within the event that it does occur, whoever’s in front of me got to get it, so it’s what it’s.”
On Wade Barrett comparing him to The Rock: “Yeah, man, so shout out to Wade with the fade, that’s what I call him. But, yeah, so far as on the subject of The Rock, , The Rock was one in all those guys who made me wanna actually be within the business in the primary place. I used to observe his promos and the way he could control the group along with his voice, and I believed it was probably the most amazing thing ever. Much more so than a wrestler, just how he was so charismatic, so stoic, that the people were just captivated with every part that he said.
“So after I actually decided I’m gonna pursue this business, I’m gonna grow to be a WWE superstar. He was one in all the explanations that I used to be really studying and watching the things that he did, to not grow to be the Rock, to not be similar to the Rock, but so the group scream as soon as they heard the primary little bit of your music. I desired to know what it felt like to only come out flying and just sit there and let the people feel your presence. So, there’s numerous things that The Rock did that influenced me as a performer, but on no account do I need to be the following Rock. I got to be the brand new Trick Williams, the one and only Trick Williams, because what The Rock has done has already been done. So I gotta discover a approach to do it.”
