Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane lost grip of his bat but still managed to hit a six while facing Avesh Khan within the IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday, April 9 at Eden Gardens.
This unusual moment happened within the ninth over. Avesh bowled a brief ball outside off, and Rahane swung hard at it. While doing so, the bat slipped out of his hand. Even then, the ball was hit strongly and went over the boundary for six, surprising everyone watching.

Ajinkya Rahane recently played an incredible knock, scoring an unbeaten 67 runs from 40 balls against Mumbai Indians in his team’s first match this season. On the time of writing, KKR were 98/1 after 10 overs, with Rahane (41 off 23) and Raghuvanshi (41 off 28) batting well. Earlier, Rishabh Pant, the LSG captain, won the toss and decided to bowl first.
KKR are still on the lookout for their first win this season. They lost their first two matches to Mumbai Indiansand SunRisers Hyderabad, while their last game against Punjab Kings was stopped because of rain after just 3.4 overs.
However, LSG won their previous match against SunRisers Hyderabad by five wickets. Of their last meeting in 2025, LSG beat KKR by 4 runs. Overall, LSG have a greater record, leading 4-2 in head-to-head matches.
