AEW’s Tony Khan Contrasts Philosophy Of Not Holding Grudges With CM Punk Situation

AEW President Tony Khan admits he’s learned loads prior to now few years because the inception of his company, and a recent appearance on Behind the Turnbuckle Studios’ “The Coach & Bro Show” further proved his growth. On the podcast, Khan talked about his philosophy about not holding grudges, especially after the CM Punk incidents referred to as “Brawl Out” and “Brawl In” of 2022 and 2023. He said he got here out of that wanting AEW to succeed and proceed greater than anything.

“I wanted, in an ideal world, for everyone to give you the option to work together and get together,” Khan said. “I do not think that was possible, but I also think that we have been able, prior to now few years, to actually give you the option to maintain AEW strong… I learned plenty of things. I probably would do things otherwise. Say things otherwise. But, it wasn’t something I used to be expecting… That was a really much, ‘welcome to wrestling’ in some elements of it, because for me, I had been in wrestling for nearly 4 years at that time, but that was actually a primary for me. As with all firsts, you are going to learn from them, and hope to not ever have a repeat.”

Khan said he’s modified his approach to loads of things, and originally of AEW, there was a collective “rebel spirit,” but now, the corporate is established. He said his efforts to grow the fanbase could also be different than what he would have done in the beginning.

“I believe the AEW fans would also agree that I’ve refined my very own media strategy,” he said. “I believe people have seen me attempting to take the high road.”
