\u2018The Bad Guy\u2019 doesn’t imagine the reports about Conor McGregor\u2019s comeback fight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been almost five years because the former two-division UFC champion last entered the Octagon, but he appears to finally be closing in on a return.<\/p>\n

McGregor didn’t get his White House wish this June, with the promotion apparently looking to save lots of the Irishman\u2019s comeback for a later event that brings with it an arena gate.<\/p>\n

The newest reports have Max Holloway because the frontrunner to welcome \u2018The Notorious\u2019 back, but not everyone seems to be convinced.<\/p>\n

Chael Sonnen confidently predicts Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway 2 is not going to occur<\/h2>\n

Ever since Dana White ruled out McGregor vs Michael Chandler being re-booked, a bunch of names have been floated as possible candidates for the Irishman\u2019s comeback fight.<\/p>\n

In response to a report from outstanding journalist Ariel Helwani, Holloway is leading the race to fight McGregor this summer. That clash could be a rematch, with \u2018Blessed\u2019 having lost to the Dublin native via unanimous decision back in 2013.<\/p>\n

But while Helwani is amongst probably the most reliable sources for fight news, Sonnen doesn’t imagine Holloway is seriously within the running to face McGregor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confident in telling you of course it won\u2019t be Max,\u201d Sonnen said during an appearance on The Bohnfire<\/a><\/em> podcast with MMA Junkie\u2019s Mike Bohn.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one thing that I do know concerning the Conor fight is that it is going to not be lower than 170 kilos.<\/p>\n

\u201cMax doesn\u2019t fight at 170, and I do know he says, \u2018I’d go up for that fight,\u2019 however the mere indisputable fact that he would go up for that fight is the very reason you don\u2019t need to do this fight,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

As an alternative, the previous UFC title challenger is expecting a rising star like Ian Machado Garry to be handed the lucrative project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe Conor\u2019s probably going to get dealt right from the underside of the deck,\u201d Sonnen suggested.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re probably going to usher in a hammer like Ian Garry. And even when it\u2019s not Ian Garry, I believe it is going to be someone like Ian Garry \u2014 a young guy with some shelf life and any person everyone knows.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t should be\u2026 He could take any opponent, and it\u2019s going to do really great, but I believe he\u2019s going to get a stud. It\u2019s going to be a fundamental event, there\u2019s going to be quite a lot of money, and customarily that\u2019s going to draw a fairly good dance partner,\u201d he concluded<\/p>\n

Holloway is coming off a defeat this 12 months, having been unseated from the BMF throne by Charles Oliveira at UFC 326.<\/p>\n
