One may disagree with the country\u2019s political project, but there is no such thing as a right in any respect that justifies an amazing power \u2014 based on its economic and military might \u2014 interfering in its internal affairs, violating its independence,\u201d Diaz said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMuch less acceptable is a superpower attempting to attain its objectives by suffocating a complete people.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below commercial<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In response,\u00a0Canada sent $8 million in food aid to Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>One-third (34 per cent) of surveyed Canadians imagine that&#8217;s enough support from Canada; with one-third (32 per cent) \u201cwant[ing] their country to do more to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There was also one-in-five (19 per cent) who imagine Canada \u201cmust be doing lower than that or mustn&#8217;t have sent that aid in any respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The survey also found that \u201cCanadians\u2019 awareness of the present crisis in Cuba is below average in comparison with many recent news events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Half of Canadians (51 per cent) say they&#8217;re following the story in Cuba \u201cvery closely\u201d (14 per cent) or \u201cclosely\u201d (38 per cent).
