Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, Jamie Lever, Girish Kulkarni, Simran Ashwini, director Nagraj Manjule, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, author Abhay Pannu and Nikhil Madhok, Head of Indian Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, attended the trailer launch of their web series, Matka King<\/em>, in Mumbai. Gulshan Grover stole the show together with his arresting presence and mass-appealing quotes.<\/p>\n Matka King trailer launch: Gulshan Grover reveals Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan were intrigued by the show\u2019s title; opens up on his failed \u2018Al Pacino\u2019 moment: \u201cMaine poori unit ke saamne kapde change kiye\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n He said, \u201cI even have all the time maintained that \u2018Sunta fundamental kisi ki nahin, manta fundamental kisi ki nahin\u2019<\/em>. But for the primary time, I met an enchanting director. Throughout the shoot of the show, I just listened to him. If you watch Matka King<\/em>, you\u2019ll realize how this director has created a gorgeous web series with the amazing participation of Amazon Prime Video, the writers and the producers.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can share this. Sooner or later, I felt \u2018Yeh director mujhe<\/em> same kapde<\/em> kyun pehna raha hai<\/em>?\u2019. That day, we were shooting a scene of me in a government office. I had this logic that I should get wearing one of the simplest ways. I convinced the costume person to present me a unique set of garments. I wore those clothes. I looked like Al Pacino!\u201d<\/p>\n He further said, \u201cNagraj ji checked out me and asked, \u2018Yeh kapde pehnna chahte ho aap<\/em>?\u2019. I reasoned, \u2018Yes, I’m visiting a government office. I’m an enormous man. I’m the asli Matka King\u2019<\/em>. I could sense that something didn\u2019t go right with him. He categorically told me, \u2018Mera mann tha ki<\/em> aap wohi kapde pehene\u2019<\/em> (the one he wore before). I swear to God, I didn\u2019t leave the set. Maine poori unit ke saamne kapde change kiye. I wore the old clothes. That is the respect I even have for his creativity.\u201d<\/p>\n At a later stage within the event, Gulshan Grover revealed, \u201cThere are numerous elements that may entertain you, get you pondering and it’s set in a really interesting world. Day before yesterday, I had dinner with Shatrughan Sinha ji, Rakesh Roshan ji, Shashi Ranjan, Anu Ranjan etc. Often, while you meet an actor, he\u2019s asked, \u2018What are you working on nowadays?\u2019. I told him, \u2018On April 17, Matka King<\/em> will release on Amazon Prime\u2019. Everyone got intrigued by the show\u2019s title. The subsequent query was, \u2018Who’s the director?\u2019. I replied, \u2018Nagraj Manjule\u2019. I mistakenly mentioned his film\u2019s name as Shararat<\/em>. Anu Ranjan immediately corrected me and said that it\u2019s called Sairat<\/em> (2016). This shows how everyone knows about him so well.\u201d<\/p>\n He also stated, \u201cThen, once I told them that Siddharth is the producer, they remarked, \u2018He all the time makes interesting content\u2019. That is the conversation we had based on the title of the show. On this very hall, Akshay Kumar and I were seated a couple of days before for an award show. He\u2019s my bhai and my friend. He asked me, \u2018Kya naya<\/em>?\u2019. I told him, \u2018Amazon ki<\/em> series aa rahi hai<\/em>, Matka King\u2019<\/em>. He was immediately curious and it led to a conversation in regards to the show. I had an analogous conversation with Shah Rukh, Varun Dhawan and various others.
