Iran was quick to shut down Donald Trump\u2019s declaration that the Strait of Hormuz is now officially open.<\/p>\n

Just two oil tankers managed to slide through the disputed region during a tense-as-it-was-short ceasefire agreement, in response to Iranian state media.<\/p>\n

The Strait was shut again after Iranian Naval officials accused Israel of launching a strike against Lebanon.<\/p>\n

A source within the Iranian Navy confirmed the Strait\u2019s closure, telling state broadcaster PressTV \u2018Now we have closed the Strait of Hormuz, and currently, only Iranian ships and vessels coming from Iran are passing through.<\/p>\n

\u2018Only two oil tankers were capable of profit from the ceasefire and go through the Strait of Hormuz before \u2018Israel\u2019 violated the agreement,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n

One other senior Iranian official insisted\u00a0that \u2018Iran will punish Israel for its aggression against Lebanon and violations of the ceasefire.\u2019<\/p>\n

A minimum of 112 people were killed in Israeli strikes over Lebanon after the ceasefire agreement, their health ministry has claimed.<\/p>\n

The newest count for Wednesday includes widespread strikes across central Beirut that got here without notice, also wounding a minimum of 837, certainly one of the deadliest days on this latest war between Israel and the Hezbollah militant group. It shouldn’t be the ultimate count.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament\u2019s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said in a post on X: \u2018In response to the brutal Israeli aggression\u00a0on Lebanon, the movement of ships within the Strait of Hormuz should be immediately stopped, and a powerful, decisive strike should be launched to\u00a0prevent further attacks by the Israeli entity.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Iranian official paid tribute to the Lebanese people, asserting that \u201cwe must not leave them alone for a second.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Rezaei emphasised the necessity for clarity on the terms of engagement stating, \u2018Either there may be a ceasefire on all fronts, or there isn’t a ceasefire on any front.\u2019<\/p>\n

The US has insisted Lebanon shouldn’t be a part of any ceasefire deal.<\/p>\n

It got here as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he \u2018has more goals to finish\u2019 within the country.<\/p>\n

\u2018We are going to achieve them,\u2019 he guarantees, \u2018either through agreement, or through renewed fighting.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The finger is on the trigger,\u2019 he warned in a video address.<\/p>\n

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt rebutted Iran\u2019s reports that the Strait was closed insisting there may be an \u2018uptick in traffic\u2019 today and Trump expects it to be \u2018reopened immediately\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018That’s his expectation, it has been relayed to him privately\u2026 these reports publicly are false.\u2019<\/p>\n

It got here after President\u00a0Donald Trump went from\u00a0threatening Iran with \u2018annihilation\u2019\u00a0to proclaiming that the battered Islamic Republic\u2019s leadership had presented a \u2018workable\u2019 plan that led him to comply with a 14-day ceasefire.<\/p>\n

\u2018The rationale for doing so is that we now have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far together with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE within the Middle East,\u2019 Trump said in a social media post announcing the temporary ceasefire.<\/p>\n

It got here about 90 minutes before his deadline for Tehran to open the critical\u00a0Strait of Hormuz\u00a0or see its power plants and other critical infrastructure obliterated.<\/p>\n
