The Canucks denied the Nashville Predators permission to talk over with Abbotsford Canucks (AHL) GM Ryan Johnson. It feels like President Jim Rutherford may very well be protected, however the futures of GM Patrik Allvin and head coach Adam Foote are in query.<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal: \u201cI\u2019ve been told Donnie the Canucks have denied Nashville permission to speak with Abbotsford Canucks GM Ryan Johnson about their GM opening. Johnson lives in Nashville within the offseason.<\/p>\n

Does this mean a promotion for Johnson? Sure looks as if the Canucks are saying, they will\u2019t afford to lose this guy. Several teams are going to be courting him. Johnson\u2019s under contract. He can\u2019t talk over with any team without permission.<\/p>\n

I’m not hearing that he\u2019s got a job lined up in Vancouver, or is even talking to the Canucks a few promotion without delay. He, Johnson could ask for permission from the Canucks after the season if he desires to, Don, to pursue jobs. That would happen if he wants.<\/p>\n

One thing that Johnson has got to be anxious about if he takes the Vancouver job, how much control does he have? We all know Jim Rutherford runs the show, right? We all know that Allvin didn\u2019t have much power. That will be a priority for me, for anyone taking the GM job.<\/p>\n

The truth is, the Canucks are looking straight at loads of teams eyeing Johnson and Manny Malhotra, they usually\u2019re going to need to adjust accordingly. Bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dhaliwal: \u201cEvery single day, there\u2019s a brand new rumor. Every single day, five people tell me Foote\u2019s gone, he\u2019s staying. Five more tell me Allvin\u2019s gone, he\u2019s staying. One thing I do hear that may be a constant, and I\u2019ve been saying this for just a few weeks, is Jim Rutherford shouldn’t be going anywhere. I don\u2019t, I haven\u2019t had one person tell me Jim\u2019s gone. Would you desire to leave Vancouver in thirty second place, Don? Is that what you wish your legacy to be? I don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor: \u201cWhat does the owner want? What do the fans want?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal: \u201cThe owner? He\u2019s the important thing on this whole thing. He\u2019s the important thing in the entire thing, is the owner. What’s he considering? What\u2019s the family considering, Don? What\u2019s the family considering?\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor: \u201cHow can they possibly take a look at what Jim Rutherford has done here in Vancouver and say, \u201cWe\u2019re keeping him and possibly let Ryan Johnson go?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal: \u201cYeah, it\u2019s a, it was a, after I heard that he was denied permission to talk over with Nashville, it was very surprising to me, Don. Very, very surprising. But I don\u2019t think they\u2019re announcing a position for him today or tomorrow in Vancouver with the Canucks. So, there’s that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Taylor: \u201cAt what point can he say, you talked about him asking permission to talk over with Nashville?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal: \u201cIt was Nashville calling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor: \u201cSo, after the season, he could go and say, he\u2019s got time left in his deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal: \u201cI feel he\u2019s got one 12 months left.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor: \u201cOkay, like loads of them do. Like, Rutherford\u2019s got a 12 months left. Allvin\u2019s got a 12 months left. I imagine Adam Foote has two years left.<\/p>\n

He can go and say, \u2018Look, I\u2019ve got a job opportunity in Nashville, where I even have some roots. Is it okay if I talk with them? But they, at this point, don\u2019t want the Predators talking to him; the opposite way around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filip Hronek Amongst Candidates for Canucks Captaincy?<\/a><\/p>\n

Taj<\/strong><\/a>: Rick Dhaliwal on Tuesday said on the Donnie and Dhali show, that he was told by someone on Monday night that Canucks ownership was going to maintain all three \u2013 Jim Rutherford, Patrik Allvin, and Adam Foote.<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal mentioned that if the Canucks were to switch Allvin or Foote, it will be a less expensive option and never a giant name.<\/p>\n
