Benn says experience and private challenges have modified his mindset ahead of his fight with Regis Prograis<\/p>\n

Conor Benn said he is not any longer driven by anger heading into his fight against Regis Prograis, pointing to a change in mindset after recent years out and in of the ring. The welterweight bout takes place Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Benn returning to his natural weight.<\/p>\n

Benn reflected on how he approached earlier fights, saying he used to hold frustration into the ring and fought with something to prove. He described that version of himself as different from where he’s now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to be offended. I had that chip on my shoulder. I ain\u2019t that guy no more,\u201d said Benn throughout the final press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He said the shift has come through experience and private challenges, adding that he now enters fights with a clearer mindset. Benn pointed to changes in each his approach and preparation as a part of that process. He added that coping with setbacks outside the ring played a task in how he now handles pressure.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt comes with age. It comes with experience. You develop into a greater fighter,\u201d said Benn.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Benn also said his focus is now on performance reasonably than proving people flawed, describing his goal as delivering consistent results reasonably than reacting emotionally. He added that returning to welterweight should allow him to indicate a more complete version of his style, each physically and mentally.<\/p>\n

Prograis enters because the more experienced opponent, a former two-time world champion who has competed at the very best level. The fight represents a step up for Benn, who’s seeking to position himself for a title shot with a win and strengthen his standing within the division.<\/p>\n

Benn said his priority is to handle the duty in front of him before looking forward to greater fights.<\/p>\n

Saturday will show how that change in mindset translates once the fight begins.<\/p>\n
