Again, Francis was a part of the issue and decided it was best for business to step aside. Not moving their remaining three pending unrestricted free agents (Jamie Oleksiak<\/a>, Eeli Tolvanen<\/a>, and Jaden Schwartz<\/a>) after moving Mason Marchment<\/a> and re-signing Jordan Eberle<\/a>. Not getting more assets for those players was a mistake.<\/p>\n

While adding Bobby McMann<\/a> is large, he’s a pending UFA at the tip of the season. On the trade deadline, they did hold the second wild-card spot and were still within the weak Pacific division race. But in the event that they weren\u2019t planning on extending any of their UFAs, they needed to accumulate assets for them. Just scrapping into the playoffs and getting bounced quickly in the primary round wouldn\u2019t have put this group any further forward. One other opportunity was lost.<\/p>\n
