Within the weeks after Johnny<\/strong> and Matthew Gaudreau<\/strong> were killed in a tragic bike accident, even the smallest tasks for his or her family felt Herculean.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTeam USA men\u2019s hockey kept the late Johnny Gaudreau of their hearts after they officially became gold medal champions on the 2026 Winter Olympics. Team USA beat Team Canada 2-1 within the gold medal game on Sunday, February 22, where they sweetly honored Gaudreau upon their victory. (The American victory marks the primary time that [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Months after Johnny and Matthew died, it was suggested that a 5K be organized to boost money within the brothers\u2019 honor \u2014 but Jane knew they\u2019d need assistance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur friend said, \u2018We\u2019ll do all the things for you, just tell us,\u2019\u201d Jane recalled. \u201c\u2018In case you\u2019re not able to be involved, perhaps you could possibly just come to the 5K.\u2019 We thought, \u2018That will be great because on the funeral, there have been so many folks that got here to see us that we don\u2019t really remember.\u2019 So we thought, \u2018OK, that may be an important method to see them and it could be under happier terms.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The 5K was held in May 2025 and raised over $500,000 to construct an accessible playground on the special education school where Jane and her oldest daughter, Kristen<\/strong>, work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Given the fundraiser\u2019s success, the family goes even larger this yr with the 2nd Annual Gaudreau Family 5K Run\/Walk & Family Day, which shall be held May 16 at Washington Lake Park in Sewell, Recent Jersey.
