Bruno Fernandes believes Manchester United were \u2018constructing something\u2019 under Ruben Amorim before \u2018abruptly\u2019 the club \u2018decided we’d like a change\u2019.<\/p>\n

Amorim lost his job at Old Trafford in early January after 14 months answerable for the Premier League giants.<\/p>\n

Manchester United finished just fifteenth last season and failed to save lots of a miserable campaign in Europe as they lost to Tottenham within the Europa League final.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils actually improved within the first-half of this season, with United sixth within the Premier League on the time of Amorim\u2019s sacking.<\/p>\n

But there have been also several concerning results, with the Manchester club losing to Grimsby Town within the Carabao Cup and in addition going out of the FA Cup on the earliest possible opportunity.<\/p>\n

Manchester United have improved drastically since club legend Michael Carrick was appointed caretaker manager, climbing to 3rd within the Premier League, just six points behind Manchester City.<\/p>\n

But captain Fernandes has still appeared to query the choice to sack Amorim, insisting his fellow Portuguese was \u2018constructing something\u2019 before his exit.<\/p>\n

Asked what it’ll take for Manchester United to challenge for major trophies once more, Fernandes told The Times<\/a>: \u2018Difficult to say because we modified manager.<\/p>\n

\u2018We were constructing something [under Ruben Amorim] and\u00a0all of\u00a0a\u00a0sudden\u00a0the club decided we’d like to vary.<\/p>\n

\u2018After which with Michael [Carrick] we’ve this last spell where\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0been great until now, with the chance of the Champions League next season.<\/p>\n

\u2018If we finish the best way we wish to complete,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0going to look\u00a0superb, but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0still not the image we wish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018[Can we] be the team\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0been on this spell, but for a full season? Because anyone could be good in spells. Being good in the entire season is rather more difficult.<\/p>\n

\u2018That\u2019s\u00a0something we\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0done since\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0here. We’d like that consistency. In a full league, every point matters. Every small detail will make a difference.\u2019<\/p>\n

Amorim was clearly popular with some members of the Manchester United squad, with former captain Harry Maguire recently tipping the 41-year-old to have an \u2018amazing profession\u2019 going forwards.<\/p>\n

\u2018I believe Ruben was really good with me. I just about played every game under Ruben once I was fit,\u2019 Maguire, who has signed a contract extension at Old Trafford, told The Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t really have much bad to say about Ruben. I actually like Ruben, I believe he\u2019s got great ideas. The ideas just didn\u2019t work at Manchester United.<\/p>\n

\u2018I do consider he\u2019ll go on and have an incredible profession, and his next club he\u2019ll probably go and win many, many football matches.<\/p>\n

\u2018It just didn\u2019t click or work and I believe us as players have gotten to take plenty of responsibility for that as well.<\/p>\n

\u2018But I believe he has led the club in a direction, and I do think he deserves plenty of credit for that, where he\u2019s built an excellent, solid squad and I do consider that he deserves credit for that.<\/p>\n

\u2018I spoke to him when he left. He wished us all the very best. I\u2019m sure he would have been upset, but I do know he\u2019s still really, really young and I\u2019m sure he\u2019s going to go on to great things in management.\u2019<\/p>\n
