The announcement was made through the UFC 327 broadcast on Saturday in Miami by promotion officials.<\/p>\n<p>Steveson, 25, is one in all the highest heavyweight prospects entering mixed martial arts. He&#8217;s a US Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling from the Tokyo 2020 Games, where he dramatically won the 125-kilogram final, rallying from an 8-5 deficit in the ultimate 10 seconds to defeat Georgia&#8217;s Geno Petriashvili 10-8.<\/p>\n<p>In college, Steveson was an completed wrestler on the University of Minnesota, where he became a two-time NCAA Division I national champion and a three-time Big Ten champion. He retired from amateur wrestling as a two-time national champion.<\/p>\n<p>Steveson began his skilled MMA profession in 2025 and holds a 3-0 record. His most up-to-date bout got here in February at a Mexico Fight League event, where he defeated 11-year veteran Hugo Lezama in the primary round.<\/p>\n<p>Before fully committing to MMA, Steveson also pursued multiple athletic paths. He signed with WWE from 2021 to 2024 and later had a transient run with the NFL&#8217;s Buffalo Bills in 2024 as a defensive lineman, though he was released before the season. He also competed within the Dirty Boxing Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Steveson will make his UFC promotional debut on July 11 at UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas during International Fight Week.
