During a recent chat, the veteran actor reflected on how the tragedy modified his priorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After a long time of nonstop work, Baldwin said the ordeal left him wanting something he once never seriously considered: stepping away from Hollywood and staying home together with his family.<\/p>\n

The actor was holding a gun during a scene rehearsal when it discharged. Baldwin has long maintained that he didn’t pull the trigger and believed the weapon had been checked and cleared before it was handed to him.<\/p>\n

The incident triggered years of legal uncertainty. Baldwin was first charged with involuntary manslaughter in January 2023, but that charge was dropped in April of that 12 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was charged again in January 2024, just for the case to collapse in July 2024 after a judge found that prosecutors had withheld evidence from Baldwin\u2019s defense team.<\/p>\n

Although the costs were dismissed with prejudice, the movie star said the damage from the case went far beyond the courtroom.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the tragedy, he said, \u201cWe had this incident, this tragedy, in Latest Mexico, where Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set of the film, and that was unspeakably difficult to cope with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baldwin Says Years At Home Modified His View Of Work<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For somebody who spent a long time moving from blockbuster movies to acclaimed TV roles, Alec Baldwin now says the thought of leaving home feels harder than ever.<\/p>\n

The 68-year-old explained that the aftermath of \u201cRust\u201d forced him right into a life he had rarely known before, one centered almost entirely around his family. Due to the case and its fallout, Baldwin said he spent years mostly out of the highlight.<\/p>\n

The legal battle was not the one burden Baldwin carried after the shooting. While discussing Rory Kennedy\u2019s documentary \u201cThe Trial of Alec Baldwin,\u201d the actor revealed just how badly the stress affected his body.<\/p>\n

Kennedy followed Baldwin during and across the trial, capturing what he described as one in all the darkest periods of his life. In response to Baldwin, the pressure of the case impacted him financially, professionally, and physically.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it impacted me in every way \u2014 financially, career-wise, my wife, my kids, my health. I used to be so sick,\u201d he said. A part of that health struggle got here while he was required to return to complete filming \u201cRust\u201d in Montana as a part of a settlement agreement with Hutchins\u2019 husband.<\/p>\n

Baldwin said he was coping with orthostatic hypotension, a condition that caused him to black out. In his words, \u201cI blacked out thrice through the St. Patrick\u2019s Day weekend of that 12 months, and fell on top of my wife once. It was crazy. It was horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

His condition became so severe that he was bedridden and couldn\u2019t walk for about eight days. Baldwin shared that he then needed to undergo physical therapy before traveling back to complete the film, despite still feeling removed from healthy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even then, he said he was unable to deliver the performance he wanted because he felt so sick.<\/p>\n

On the Boulder event, Baldwin mixed his heavier reflections with stories from his long profession. He spoke fondly about doing \u201cA Streetcar Named Desire\u201d on Broadway, calling it a turning point.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood icon also shared a funny behind-the-scenes story about working with Spike Lee on \u201cBlacKkKlansman,\u201d recalling how Lee modified his lines on the last minute and later used his frustrated swearing in the ultimate cut.<\/p>\n

Baldwin also laughed about how his long term playing Donald Trump on \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d began almost by accident after producer Lorne Michaels convinced him to skip one other event.<\/p>\n

Still, whilst he looked back on profession highs and memorable moments, the larger theme was how much his priorities have shifted.<\/p>\n

Though he admitted that having a documentary made about him was strange, he praised Kennedy for showing how deeply the case affected his life.<\/p>\n

He also revisited his belief that prosecutors unfairly targeted him while failing to totally pursue other unanswered questions surrounding what happened on set.<\/p>\n

Still, amid the frustration, Baldwin said his biggest source of support never modified. In the course of the live interview, he even paused to FaceTime Hilaria in front of the audience.<\/p>\n
