The family of a mother have announced she died in hospital three weeks after being attacked together with the road.<\/p>\n
Scarlett Faulkner, 29, was allegedly struck with an iron bar on Saturday, March 21 \u2013 three weeks ago. <\/p>\n
The mother, from Limerick, was placed in an induced coma after suffering catastrophic head injuries.<\/p>\n
However the mother of a six-year-old daughter was taken off her life support machine in Cork University Hospital. She died hours later with relations at her bedside.<\/p>\n
In an update on social media on Monday evening, her brother posted \u2018RIP my lovely sister Scarlett\u2019.<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Her cousin Melissa McCarthy, who had kept the general public updated via videos online, posted a montage of images of Scarlett, captioned: \u2018Fly high our girl love you eternally my beautiful cousin oh your poor family and little girl 13.04.2026.<\/p>\n \u2018Goodbye our girl fly high, you\u2019re with the angels now, oh god mind Aunt Mary and Banny, all of your brothers and sisters especially your little girl nieces, nephews, in-laws fly high you fought until the last.\u2019<\/p>\n A girl aged in her 40s and a teenage girl have been\u00a0charged in reference to the assault.<\/p>\n The 16-year-old is alleged to have been a passenger in a automotive that had pursued and rammed a van that Faulkner and a person were travelling in.<\/p>\n A court heard that when Faulkner ran from the van, she was chased by the girl and allegedly struck across her head with an iron bar no less than 11 times.<\/p>\n Josephine Duffy, the partner of Scarlett\u2019s brother Thomas, gave an update on social media this Monday evening saying: \u2018The one, the one, Scarlet Faulkner, passed away so peacefully along with her loving family round her.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018Rest in peace my beautiful sister-in-law. Thanks all a lot in your prayers and support,\u2019 wrote Josephine.<\/p>\n Martin Anthony Faulkner, one in all Scarlett\u2019s 15 siblings, wrote on social media: \u2018RIP my lovely sister Scarlett.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018It’s with the deepest sorrow and profound regret that we share the heartbreaking news that Scarlett Faulkner has passed away. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.<\/p>\n \u2018At this deeply distressing time, the family are gently attempting to process their overwhelming grief and loss. They kindly ask for privacy as they arrive to terms with saying goodbye to their precious, beautiful girl,\u2019 reads a post on her Facebook group.<\/p>\n \u2018Your kindness has meant more to them than words can say. They ask that all of us proceed to hope for Scarlett \u2013 that her gentle soul is received into the loving arms of God and granted everlasting peace and a soft bed in Heaven. Thanks all, and God bless you all.\u2019<\/p>\n On Monday evening, Garda\u00ed confirmed that Scarlett had died and that investigations were ongoing.<\/p>\n A Garda spokesperson said: \u2018Garda\u00ed proceed to research a serious assault which occurred on the R494 at Birdhill, Co. Tipperary on Saturday 21 March, 2026 shortly before 5.30pm.<\/p>\n \u2018The lady, aged in her 20s, who was injured within the incident, was pronounced deceased earlier today, Monday, 13 April in Cork University Hospital. <\/p>\n \u2018The Coroner has been notified. A post-mortem examination will happen sooner or later.<\/p>\n \u2018A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased. As two individuals are currently charged before the courts, An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na will not be making any further comment.
