Hugo Ekitike suffered a suspected Achilles injury in Liverpool\u2019s 2-0 defeat to PSG (EPA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Hugo Ekitike was forced off with a suspected Achilles injury during Liverpool\u2019s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain within the Champions League on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The French striker began alongside Alexander Isak for the second leg of Liverpool\u2019s quarter-final tie against the Champions League holders.<\/p>\n

Within the twenty ninth minute, Ekitike went down unchallenged after landing awkwardly moments earlier and immediately looked in pain as he was surrounded by each sets of players who looked concerned.<\/p>\n

Ekitike may very well be seen clutching the Achilles on his right foot before medical staff helped him off the pitch on a stretcher.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old was clearly upset before leaving the pitch and he could now potentially miss Liverpool\u2019s remaining six Premier League fixtures this season.<\/p>\n

Ekitike can be pushing for a spot in France\u2019s World Cup squad with their campaign attributable to begin against Senegal on June 16.<\/p>\n

When asked about Ekitike\u2019s injury after his side\u2019s loss, Arne Slot said: \u2018Not too good, I feel we could all see that.<\/p>\n

\u2018Let\u2019s wait and see what it’ll be. Within the second half he went home so I haven\u2019t seen him.\u2019<\/p>\n

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate said: \u2018I\u2019m very sad for him. To be fair, I feel it\u2019s bad,\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t need to discuss that, with a World Cup coming it\u2019s very, very hard for him in the meanwhile. I send him my prayers.\u2019<\/p>\n

Liverpool went on to lose 2-0 as two second-half goals from Ousmane Dembele sealed the win for PSG.<\/p>\n

Luis Enrique\u2019s side will now play either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich within the Champions League semi-final.<\/p>\n
