Daredevil: Born Again ended on a terrifying note last week, with Vanessa Fisk getting critically injured after Wilson Fisk\u2019s plan to lure Bullseye out of hiding went horribly fallacious. Episode 5 slows down the pace because it deals with the huge fallout of those events and shows what becomes of Daredevil, Bullseye, Fisk, and Vanessa. Nevertheless, because the ending scene makes clear, the nightmare is just not over.<\/p>\n
Daredevil & Bullseye Escape, Matt Shows Mercy<\/strong><\/h4>\nThe episode opens with Wilson Fisk not taking Vanessa\u2019s injury well in any respect, as he actively interferes with the paramedics attempting to take her away before calming down. He then orders his Anti-Vigilante Task Force to capture Matt Murdock and Benjamin \u201cBullseye\u201d Poindexter alive. Fisk evidently blames them each for Vanessa\u2019s fate and desires to cope with them personally.<\/p>\n
\n<\/blockquote>\nMeanwhile, Daredevil takes Bullseye and flees to a close-by restaurant. Bullseye is baffled by Daredevil\u2019s attempt at saving his life, on condition that he\u2019s the one who murdered Foggy Nelson, and Matt had tried to kill him in retaliation back then. Matt retorts that saving Bullseye now’s his own twisted attempt at atonement, as he believes that he\u2019d gone too far by letting his anger devour him, and doesn\u2019t need to repeat that mistake.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, a flashback sequence reveals a deeper motive for Matt\u2019s actions. Back within the day, Matt and Foggy worked together to represent Foggy\u2019s old friend, Lionel McCoy, who\u2019d grow to be involved in some illegal drug business. Lionel was not very nice to Foggy growing up, and he was not very nice when Foggy met him again as his lawyer.<\/p>\n
Lionel refused to take the plea deal Matt and Foggy had negotiated because he believed his employers (who the flashback reveals to be Fisk and Wesley) would\u2019ve had him killed, but Matt was unsympathetic to his plight. Nevertheless, Foggy later discovered an issue within the search warrant that will invalidate the prosecution\u2019s entire case, and convinced a reluctant Matt to maneuver forward with it. Foggy even went up to now as to pilfer his and Matt\u2019s savings so he could help Lionel get a fresh start and escape the people hunting him.<\/p>\n
Realizing that he\u2019s been subconsciously attempting to live as much as his late friend\u2019s values, Matt overcomes his hesitation and follows through with getting Bullseye to safety, despite nearly leaving him behind on the church.<\/p>\n
Fisk\u2019s Torment Refuses To End<\/strong><\/h4>\nFisk spends a lot of the episode utterly shaken and desperately hopes for Vanessa\u2019s recovery. She eventually finally ends up going into surgery and regains consciousness shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Fisk\u2019s joy at this turn of events is short-lived, as, while it seems at first that Vanessa is slowly becoming lucid and reminiscing concerning the time they first met, she soon begins to have memory issues. Then she flatlines, and Fisk calls the nurses in desperation and might only watch helplessly as his transient moment of hope is cruelly snatched away. The ending of the episode makes it clear that Fisk\u2019s nightmare is much from over.<\/p>\n
