Legendary arm wrestling champion Devon Larratt left no stone unturned when he decided to take up boxing on a month\u2019s notice in 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The large 6\u20196 arm wrestler saved the day in Dubai when he agreed to face 6\u20199 \u2018Mountain\u2019 Thor Bjornsson after a fight with Eddie Hall fell through. Nevertheless, he only had four-and-a-half weeks to coach, and had to search out a gym in his native Canada on short notice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got like 4 and a half weeks and I don\u2019t know anything about boxing,\u201d Larratt recalled. \u201cI in a short time was like \u2018what\u2019s the perfect gym?\u2019 I am going to Tristar, I move in for like four-and-a-half weeks and I\u2019m just getting beat up each day for four-and-a-half weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I loved it, really. I loved every minute since it was super humbling and I had so way more respect \u2013 I all the time had mad respect for boxing and I believe it\u2019s a brilliant cool sport \u2013 but I even have so way more respect for it now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went into that gym and the degrees were so high. To grow to be an elite boxer is a lot work and a lot talent. To be great at any sport requires a lifetime of labor really for 99.9 per cent of individuals. Sometimes life throws you a possibility and also you\u2019ve got to take it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Devon Larratt unlikely to fight again despite loving training<\/h2>\n

\u201cI felt like I couldn\u2019t pass up on the chance to fight Thor because I just thought it was such an incredible experience. I prefer to fight, I actually do, but at this point in my life I\u2019m just so specialized as an athlete, I could possibly be more suited to grappling.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy elbows are pretty torqued for anything on the subject of striking. I don\u2019t wish to say it\u2019s inconceivable but I see myself continuing to arm wrestle so long as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n
