The twenty second BAFTA Games Awards took place tonight on the Southbank Centre\u2019s Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and after leading the nominations with 12 nods, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 walked away with three wins, including the massive one: Best Game. It also took home Debut Game, and Jennifer English won Performer in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Maelle. Surprisingly, it didn’t take home Best Music.<\/p>\n

Matching Clair Obscur\u2019s three-win total was Dispatch, AdHoc Studio\u2019s debut title, which took home Animation, Audio Achievement, and Performer in a Supporting Role for Jeffrey Wright as Chase. Truthfully, that\u2019s an enormous night for AdHoc Studio, and it\u2019s well-deserved. For lots of people, Dispatch got here out of nowhere and ended up being probably the most talked-about games of the yr. The BAFTA Fellowship was presented to Supercell CEO and co-founder Ilkka Paananen in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the industry. It\u2019s a giant honor, and a reasonably fitting one given Supercell\u2019s impact on mobile gaming with titles like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars. The Fellowship celebrates individuals who\u2019ve driven innovation, creativity, and positive change within the screen arts over the course of their careers.<\/p>\n

We had a sense Clair Obscur was going to be the story of the night, and between Best Game, Debut Game, and a number one performance win, it absolutely was. Three wins out of 12 nominations might look modest on paper, but that is an incredibly competitive yr, and Sandfall Interactive walked out of tonight with Best Game.
