Ronda Rousey tells female fighters to follow her blueprint in MMA<\/h2>\n

During Wednesday\u2019s press conference ahead of the very first MMA event to air on Netflix, Rousey went scorched Earth on Kayla Harrison after being branded \u201cirrelevant\u201d by the UFC champion.<\/p>\n

Speaking with reporter Mike Bohn<\/a> moments after the presser, \u2018Rowdy\u2019 pointed to that rant because the type of thing that’s missing from what number of modern-day female fighters approach the game.<\/p>\n

Rousey thinks the present crop of athletes could learn a thing or two by watching her and Carano within the build-up to their fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if (women\u2019s MMA) has leveled up yet,\u201d Rousey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe they\u2019ve done an incredible job (since I left), but quite a lot of them need to comprehend that just moving into and fighting isn\u2019t the entire job, and really putting quite a lot of thought into media.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour job isn\u2019t to win fights, it\u2019s to get people to observe your fights,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s awesome that folks are watching the brand\u2026however it\u2019s vital for all the ladies to learn from this, from what me and Gina are doing, and what we\u2019ve done prior to now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t just show up and fight. It\u2019s storytelling. I put quite a lot of thought into anything that could possibly be asked of me. Like that rant I went on (against Harrison). It wasn\u2019t like I never considered what I might say if someone asked me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those comments would seem to suggest that Rousey expected more progress on the ladies\u2019s side of MMA given the platform she arrange during her historic title reign.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, \u2018Rowdy\u2019 herself is just not yet done. Her layoff will come to an end against Carano, who has been out even longer, having not fought since 2009.<\/p>\n

It stays to be seen whether more fights will await Rousey if she will be able to follow back-to-back knockout losses to Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm with a triumph on May 16.<\/p>\n
