Expectations Are That Evgeni Malkin Will Return Next Season<\/a><\/p>\n

Scott Laughlin: \u201cAny update Friedge, from what you\u2019ve heard, on the subject of Malkin? He\u2019s on an expiring contract. We had been led to assume all throughout this process that Kyle Dubas was going to talk with the Malkin\u2019s camp throughout the Olympics. It\u2019s been really quiet for Malkin. Are we just assuming he\u2019s coming back?\u201d<\/p>\n

Elliotte Friedman: \u201cThey did talk, they usually did talk, and I\u2019ve asked, but Dubas won\u2019t address it. And, the thing about Malkin is he\u2019s a complete wild man, right? And I say it and with laughing respect. Each time he says something, he goes for the utmost chaos. And you only can\u2019t, like, it\u2019s funny, like, I feel he\u2019s really hilarious, and you only can\u2019t, you’ll be able to\u2019t figure it out.<\/p>\n

Like, if he\u2019s serious, or, like, he got here out the opposite day, he\u2019s like, Oh, I feel (Alex) Ovechkin is playing again next 12 months. Like, it\u2019s the precise opposite of what everybody expected him to say and think. So, I just find he\u2019s a very difficult guy to get a read on.<\/p>\n

NHL Rumors: Status Quo for Evgeni Malkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a><\/p>\n

When Dubas shuts down like that. My history with him is he knows exactly what\u2019s happening, and he just doesn\u2019t wish to say, and on this particular case, I feel it\u2019s since it\u2019s probably got lots to do with how Malkin feels, and he just doesn\u2019t wish to violate that.\u201d<\/p>\n

NHLRumors.com Note:<\/strong> The Pittsburgh Penguins are back within the playoffs. Evgeni Malkin had an amazing season, putting up 61 points (19 goals and 42 assists) in a resurgence in a contract season. Malkin wasn\u2019t sure if he was coming initially of the season. He needed to see how his body felt. But with the youthful energy within the locker room, Malkin found the fountain of youth.<\/p>\n

He made some comments coming out of the Olympics, where he was upset that talks weren\u2019t happening until after the season. Nonetheless, he got here around after talking to Dubas. But as Friedman identified, Malkin is such a wild man, and you may have no idea what he’ll say.<\/p>\n

But Malkin desires to retire as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.<\/p>\n
