Unfortunately, Driver\u2019s character appeared to pass away at the tip of 2019\u2019s \u201cThe Rise of Skywalker,\u201d and although the pitch was approved by Lucasfilm, Disney execs shut down the project after they didn\u2019t understand how Ben Solo could come back to life.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-was-the-hunt-for-ben-solo-scrapped\">Why Was \u2018The Hunt For Ben Solo\u2019 Scrapped?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<p>In October 2025, Adam Driver told the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/adam-driver-star-wars-soderbergh-jarmusch-4e08164d0419759f1b5b50d69864975d\">Associated Press<\/a> that he \u201call the time was interested\u201d in doing one other \u201cStar Wars\u201d film. After discussing his idea with Kathleen Kennedy, he and Soderbergh set to work on a script that was written by Scott Z. Burns.<\/p>\n<p>The script was seemingly well-received by Kennedy, Lucasfilm vice chairman Cary Beck, and Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni. The \u201cMarriage Story\u201d actor called it \u201cconsidered one of the good (expletive) scripts I had ever been a component of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the concept. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it,\u201d Driver said. \u201cWe took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and so they said no. They didn\u2019t see how Ben Solo was alive. Darth Maul, who was cut in half during \u201cThe Phantom Menace,\u201d reappeared in several animated shows before getting his own animated series, \u201cMaul \u2013 Shadow Lord,\u201d which has received rave reviews.<\/p>\n<p>Even in 2019\u2019s \u201cThe Rise of Skywalker,\u201d Emperor Palpatine was brought back from the dead in an effort to serve because the film\u2019s primary antagonist. Isaac delivered the road \u201cIn some way, Palpatine returned\u201d himself, which has been widely mocked across social media within the years following the film\u2019s release.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about that line, Isaac revealed that it was a late addition to the movie that was only added during reshoots. \u201cThose were reshoots. We needed to do reshoots. Isaac said that his \u201cfavorite experience of doing the primary one was wild\u201d and recalled \u201ca lot excitement\u201d on set because \u201cevery part was latest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He talked about \u201cbecoming close with\u201d director <strong>J.J. Abrams<\/strong> and meeting his costars, <strong>Daisy Ridley<\/strong> and <strong>John Boyega<\/strong>. While some fans loved the movie\u2019s daring latest direction, others felt that the story strayed too removed from what Abrams had arrange in \u201cThe Force Awakens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to the backlash, Isaac admitted that he grew up \u201cwith fans and geeks,\u201d so he knew \u201chow much ownership people feel over them.\u201d But he admitted that he \u201cloved\u201d the experience of filming \u201cThe Last Jedi\u201d with director <strong>Rian Johnson<\/strong> and getting the chance to satisfy him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s so laid back, so funny, and attempting to make it his own. I loved Benicio being in it, too, stuttering,\u201d Isaac said. \u201cI actually loved it, it was such an incredible experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It stays to be seen if Isaac will ever reprise his role as Poe Dameron, but fans have speculated that he might make an appearance in <strong>Ryan Gosling<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cStar Wars: Starfighter,\u201d which hits theaters in May 2027.
