Hearn floated one possibility involving the winner of Jack Catterall\u2019s planned fight with Shakhram Giyasov, but immediately dismissed it as unrealistic.<\/p>\n

While it was Haney\u2019s peak, it proved he needs a polarizing, high-draw opponent simply to get within the conversation. Without Ryan, he has not brought in large PPV numbers.<\/p>\n

Doing 50k\u201360k buys for a title fight at 140 lbs against Regis Prograis is catastrophic if you\u2019re insisting on a big purse. Hearn might need disputed the precise low-end figures, but his recent comments prove he was losing his shirt on those deals.<\/p>\n

Even against a living legend like Vasily Lomachenko 150k buys is barely mid-tier. It shows that \u201chardcore\u201d fans will show up, but Haney doesn\u2019t cross over into the mainstream.<\/p>\n

Hearn\u2019s recent \u201cI don\u2019t know what I\u2019d do with him\u201d comment is essentially a polite way of claiming Haney is bad for business.<\/p>\n

Hearn admitted he overpaid to construct Haney\u2019s brand years ago. Now that the brand is built, it isn\u2019t generating the return on investment to justify the \u201ccrazy money\u201d demands.<\/p>\n

Haney\u2019s style is technically sensible but often labeled \u201cboring\u201d by casual fans. In a PPV world, in case you aren\u2019t knocking people out or selling an enormous grudge, people won\u2019t reach for his or her wallets.<\/p>\n

Bill Haney has been vocal about Devin\u2019s \u201cundisputed\u201d status and three-division aspirations, but Hearn\u2019s point is that legacy doesn\u2019t pay the lighting bill at the sector.<\/p>\n

Haney stays certainly one of boxing\u2019s best-known names, but Hearn\u2019s comments point to a growing issue for star fighters between divisions: popularity can attract headlines, yet promoters still need fights that make business sense.<\/p>\n
