Paulo Costa has explained why he was frustrated together with his UFC rating within the recent update.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier this month at UFC 327, Paulo Costa made his first appearance at light heavyweight after finally moving up from middleweight.<\/p>\n

<\/figure>\n

The previous middleweight title contender took on the undefeated Azamat Murzakanov who was likely one win away from competing for the 205lb title.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Eraser\u2019 went on to attain the third round finish after dominating the Russian for nearly all of the fight, immediately putting himself into light heavyweight title contention.<\/p>\n

Costa vents his frustration with the UFC rankings<\/h2>\n

Following his spectacular win against the Russian contender, Costa immediately catapulted himself into the highest 10 of the sunshine heavyweight rankings at number seven.<\/p>\n

Despite the achievement, the Brazilian isn\u2019t pleased with the rankings and he has vented his frustration that he didn\u2019t take Murzakanov\u2019s spot at number six.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t pleased once I saw the (rankings), it\u2019s embarrassing, you can not explain it,\u201d Costa told Submission Radio<\/a> with regard to not taking rank six.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve tried to search for a reason for that but, I couldn’t find any reason to be seventh if my opponent was number six. It\u2019s crazy because Alex (Pereira) remains to be there and he\u2019s going to fight at heavyweight and Alex is number two, it doesn\u2019t make any sense, it\u2019s crazy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s weird too while you have a look at heavyweight, (Josh) Hokit just beat the number five, and he took number five\u2026 Who knows what\u2019s occurring?\u201d<\/p>\n

Alex Pereira remains to be ranked number two in the sunshine heavyweight division despite dropping his title to tackle Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title on the UFC White House event.<\/p>\n

Despite Costa being ranked number seven, he’s being pitched to fight in an interim light heavyweight title fight by Joe Rogan.<\/p>\n

The UFC commentator claimed that Costa\u2019s UFC 327 performance was the very best he has ever looked, claiming that he’s a future champion at 205lbs.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, it remains to be unclear what the promotion will determine to do with the division considering Carlos Ulberg\u2019s potentially long injury layoff, with the champion having recently undergone surgery for a torn ACL.<\/p>\n
