The period drama, Matka King<\/em>, dropped on Amazon Prime Video on April 17, and has been loved for its subject, dramatic scenes, ensemble forged and a few clapworthy scenes. Since its release, viewers have been drawing parallels with certain characters shown within the film to real-life people. Rather a lot has been spoken concerning the lead protagonist, Brij Bhatti, and whether he\u2019s inspired by Ratan Khatri, the gambling kingpin who was referred to as \u2018Matka King\u2019 in real life. 5 days ago, Bollywood Hungama<\/strong> wrote that Viineet Kumar Siingh’s cameo as gangster Darab Ahmed Wadkar appears to be inspired by fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim.<\/p>\n

Is Cyrus Sahukar\u2019s flamboyant film star character Maqsood in Matka King inspired by Mehmood?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matka King also contains a vivacious film actor named Maqsood, played by Cyrus Sahukar. Interestingly, this character seems heavily inspired by the versatile actor Mehmood. His look, especially the neatly trimmed pencil moustache, immediately made viewers draw parallels with the Padosan<\/em> (1968) and Bombay To Goa<\/em> (1972) actor.<\/p>\n

Matka King is the story of Brij Bhatti, a poor man who invents the gambling game of \u2018Matka\u2019. Very quickly, \u2018Matka\u2019 becomes popular among the many poor because it offers them a probability to win big money and, more importantly, Brij guarantees honesty within the system. Meanwhile, Brij falls in love with a wealthy Parsi widow, Gulrukh (Kritika Kamra). She popularizes \u2018Matka\u2019 among the many wealthy and elite. While partying along with her, Brij meets Maqsood and the 2 turn out to be close friends. On Maqsood\u2019s advice, Brij even invests money within the latter\u2019s upcoming film, Bharat Ka Beta<\/em>. By the point the film\u2019s premiere takes place, Brij has gotten entangled in a legal mess.<\/p>\n

A memorable scene in the net series unfolds through the premiere of Bharat Ka Beta<\/em>. Brij waits backstage with the forged and crew, expecting to be acknowledged. Nevertheless, Maqsood calls the actress, the villain and the producers on stage, but leaves Brij out. A visibly disheartened Brij chooses not to observe the film and as a substitute quietly smokes a cigarette within the theatre lobby, nursing the humiliation.<\/p>\n
