The Cowboys made the NFL\u2019s first high-profile post-draft move by signing veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/a>They’ve now added one other player on the position \u2013 2020 fifth-round pick Tyler<\/strong> Johnson<\/strong> \u2013 in addition to former 49ers linebacker Curtis<\/strong> Robinson<\/strong>, based on Nick Harris of the Fort Price Star Telegram<\/a>. Each players were in Dallas for visits on Monday, per KPRC2\u2019s Aaron Wilson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Johnson, 27, played for 4 different teams in his six 12 months profession. He appeared in 12 games with the Jets in 2025, catching 12 of his 18 targets for 197 yards. He was originally drafted by the Buccaneers, where he played for 2 years, before spending time with the Texans, Raiders, and Rams. He saw significant usage in 2021 in Tampa Bay (612 snaps, 55 targets) and 2024 in Los Angeles (361 snaps, 41 targets), but has been unable to sustain that volume in subsequent seasons.<\/p>\n

In Dallas, he’ll join Valdes-Scantling, CeeDee<\/strong> Lamb<\/strong>, George<\/strong> Pickens<\/strong>, KaVontae Turpin<\/a><\/strong>, and Jonathan<\/strong> Mingo<\/strong> within the Cowboys\u2019 wide receiver room. Lamb and Pickens are the clear-cut top two options, but a pecking order behind them has not been established. Turpin should stay in his slot\/gadget role, leaving Johnson to compete for a backup role on the skin.<\/p>\n

Robinson, 27, signed with the Broncos as an undrafted rooke in 2021. He appeared in three games as a practice squad elevation in Denver and did the identical in San Francisco later within the 12 months. He then spent the following 4 years on the 49ers\u2019 practice squad, using up his maximum of three elevations each season and playing almost exclusively on special teams. In 2025, he again began the season on the practice squad, but he was promoted to the lively roster in September after injuries within the team\u2019s linebacker room. Those continued throughout the season, leading to career-high participation on defense (248 snaps) and special teams (194 snaps).<\/p>\n

Robinson is the second 49ers linebacker to maneuver to Dallas this offseason \u2013 2023 fifth-rounder Dee<\/strong> Winters<\/strong> was traded to the Cowboys just before the draft. The 2 will now join a linebacker room that currently features DeMarvion<\/strong> Overshown<\/strong> as a transparent No. 1 starter and little clarity behind him. Marist<\/strong> Li<\/strong>ufau and Shemar<\/strong> James<\/strong> are each getting back from last 12 months\u2019s squad, though each struggled to thold down the center of the team\u2019s defense. After getting his first major taste of normal season motion in 2025, Robinson will likely be looking to determine a job for himself in Dallas this 12 months.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
