Sally Field<\/strong> has spent a long time selecting roles that dig into something true about human experience. In a rare interview, the actress looked back on one famous part she turned down \u2014 Annie Paradis in 1996\u2019s First Wives Club<\/em> \u2014 and explained why one other, Mrs. Doubtfire<\/em>, still resonates with families greater than 30 years later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t have done that role, because I don\u2019t sing and so they all do at the tip.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diane Keaton<\/strong> ultimately landed the role of Annie, with Bette Midler<\/strong>, Goldie Hawn<\/strong>, Stockard Channing<\/strong>, Dan Hedaya<\/strong>, Victor Garber<\/strong>, Stephen Collins<\/strong>, Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong>, Elizabeth Berkley<\/strong> and Marcia Gay Harden<\/strong> rounding out the solid. The film scored an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Musical or Comedy Rating.<\/p>\n

Field held no regrets in regards to the casting.<\/p>\n

Field plays his ex-wife, who grows more independent, adding tension until Daniel can not hide who he really is.<\/p>\n

Also starring Pierce Brosnan<\/strong>, Harvey Fierstein<\/strong>, Lisa Jakub<\/strong>, Matthew Lawrence<\/strong> and Mara Wilson<\/strong>, the film has endured as a family favorite. Field isn\u2019t surprised.<\/p>\n
