Music blasted from parade floats shattered several antiques in a museum in Chaiyaphum, northeastern Thailand.<\/p>\n

Chaiyaphum Ancient Textile Museum owner Dr Komkrich Ritkhachorn said Bai Sri Boon\u00a0caused \u2018severe damage\u2019 to the exhibitions on April 22.<\/p>\n

Dr Ritkhachorn said in a since-deleted Facebook post<\/a> that as parade-goers passed Chai Prasit Road, the music was so loud it shook display cases.<\/p>\n

The cultural researcher blamed the some 100 parade trucks equipped with giant loudspeakers, locally often known as rod hae, for the damage. <\/p>\n

Photographs showed shattered pottery scattered on the museum floor, with some display pedestals nearly empty. <\/p>\n

Dr Ritkhachorn said: \u2018Was it value it to show this place into town of\u00a0rod hae\u00a0when it causes trouble for people?<\/p>\n

\u2018I even have no objection to the parade. But can organisers reduce the noise level in order that it can not cause any damage?\u2019<\/p>\n

The 10km-long procession featured greater than 150 floats, some greater than two metres tall, based on local news outlet Matichon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The times-long celebration <\/a>within the Muang district honours Chao Pho Phaya Lae, a Lao immigrant who died fighting within the late nineteenth century. <\/p>\n

Dr Ritkhachorn told the Tourism and Environment News Agency<\/a> that he has no issue with the Bai Sri Boon\u00a0parade.<\/p>\n

\u2018If the competition continues based on who’s louder and who creates probably the most impact, ultimately, it\u2019s not only the artefacts within the museum that can be destroyed, however the meaning of the religious ceremony itself,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018What began as an event of religion will step by step turn out to be something that local people turn out to be weary of and apprehensive about.\u2019<\/p>\n

Local and provincial judges visited the museum on April 24 to examine the damage, Dr Ritkhachorn added.<\/p>\n

As many museums have prepared for the worst, like earthquakes and heavy construction, day-to-day noise isn\u2019t one in every of them, researchers say<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The study by the National Museum Cardiff found that the museum\u2019s own displays were being slowly rattled around by visitors shuffling around or gigs down the road.<\/p>\n
