In a humorous video posted Thursday on his Instagram account, Banksy showed snippets of how the sculpture was put up at nighttime. The sculpture appeared to have been erected within the early hours of Wednesday on a plinth on a traffic island in Waterloo Place, near Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n

The statue is situated near those of King Edward VII, who reigned between 1901 and 1910, and legendary nurse Florence Nightingale, in addition to the Crimean War Memorial.<\/p>\n
Statues will not be what Banksy is primarily known for.<\/p>\n
He’s way more famous for his spray-painting on buildings, together with his first creations appearing within the early Nineties in his hometown of Bristol in southwest England. He has since gone global and his paintings and installations have sold\u00a0for tens of millions of dollars at auction. His street art is usually targeted by\u00a0thieves\u00a0and\u00a0vandals.<\/p>\n
