Gavin Newsom\u2019s last appearance on \u201cReal Time with Bill Maher\u201d in 2025, the titular host took pains to grill his governor on what he felt were the numerous unnecessary layers of bureaucracy within the Golden State \u2014 namely, that he was forced to pay for 2 roof inspections on his home following the wildfires that ravaged the Pacific Palisades and Altadena.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhy do I would like two inspections, which I actually have to pay for?!\u201d exclaimed the comedian. \u201cYou were here last time. We talked about regulations. You said, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s a very latest day\u2026 You said you were working on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThat\u2019s about as testy as things got. Maher is an enormous fan of Newsom\u2019s overall, having repeatedly urged him to run for president in 2028 and cheering on his social media trolling of President Trump. He talked concerning the beach photo and the indictment of one in every of his enemies,\u201d Newsom replied, referencing Trump going after former FBI director James Comey over an innocuous photo of arranged seashells he posted. \u201cHe\u2019s not doing anything to attempt to unite this country in any way, shape, or form. To me, that\u2019s the largest reflection of this moment \u2014 just the sewer we\u2019re now living in due to Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThen Maher dug his heels in: \u201cBut many individuals would say that <em>you<\/em> are imitating him\u2026 <em>You<\/em> are the one who type of imitates his style with the trolling. You\u2019re suing Fox now, I understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFox higher look to settle immediately or apologize for defamation,\u201d Newsom shot back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOK but that sounds exactly like what he does,\u201d offered Maher. \u201cSuing media?\u201d Trump since 2024 has forced big media firms, including Disney and Paramount, into wealthy settlements over frivolous lawsuits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNewsom was undeterred: \u201cWell, don\u2019t defame, don\u2019t lie,\u201d he said of his suit against Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat<em> does<\/em> sound like him,\u201d Maher reiterated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During California Gov.
