All Elite Wrestling aired a tribute to wrestler Tanea \u201cRebel\u201d Brooks<\/strong> following her announcement that she has been diagnosed with \u201cterminal\u201d amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).<\/p>\n

\u201cYou almost certainly know by social media that certainly one of our tremendous athletes has some very serious health problems,\u201d announcer Tony Schiavone<\/strong> told viewers on the Saturday, May 2, episode of AEW Collision<\/em>. \u201cWe wish [Tanea] to know you’re big a part of AEW and we’re fascinated with you without delay and we’re praying for you, that you’re going to pull through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schiavone, 68, mentioned that there have been \u201cplenty of signs\u201d from fans attending AEW Collision<\/em> on the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois, offering encouragement to Brooks, 47. (The wrestler has competed under the name \u201cRebel\u201d during her six years with All Elite Wrestling.)<\/p>\n

\u201cRebel, we hope you\u2019ll improve. Pray for Rebel,\u201d Schiavone added. \u201cMy dear, we\u2019re fascinated with you. She\u2019s an exquisite young lady.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom Lou Gehrig in 1939 to Eric Dane in 2025, celebrities have publicly handled what’s now generally known as ALS for a long time. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also called Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease, is a terminal neurodegenerative disorder. The disease causes the person to regularly lose control of their muscles, starting regularly with muscle stiffness or [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Brooks shared together with her social media followers on Friday, May 1, that she was recently diagnosed with \u201cterminal ALS,\u201d a nervous system disease that impacts the nerve cells within the brain and spinal cord. ALS \u2014 which is alternatively generally known as Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease or Motor Neurone Disease \u2014 causes a gradual lack of ability to regulate speech, respiration and eating. There isn’t a known cure.<\/p>\n

The wrestler has been on a longterm health journey, having battled primary pulmonary lymphoma, a rare form of lung cancer, since 2024. In Friday\u2019s vlog, Brooks explained that recent developments in her cancer fight led doctors to find that she has ALS.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing is, sometimes we don\u2019t need to hear that answer to our prayers. And so, while I used to be waiting to have lung surgery for the masses on my lung, the doctors at Mayo [Clinic] finally found what\u2019s occurring,\u201d she told viewers.<\/p>\n

Brooks admitted that her medical team \u201cdo[es] not know the way long\u201d she has to live since \u201cthere isn’t plenty of research behind ALS.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt explains why I even have trouble walking and talking [and] all my functions will soon decline. But now, we are able to prepare for the long run and what’s to return,\u201d she acknowledged.<\/p>\n

The 12-year pro wrestling veteran personally thanked All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan<\/strong> for supporting her through her health problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to say thanks to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey,\u201d a tearful Brooks said. \u201cIt has been a blessing that’s unheard of and, from the underside of my heart, thanks and thanks to all of you to your prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n

She asked fans to maintain her of their thoughts, saying, \u201cPlease proceed to hope for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I like you.\u201d<\/p>\n
