Jamie Carragher named the 2 favourites to win the Premier League title next season after defending champions Liverpool were beaten by Manchester United.<\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s dismal season suffered one other blow on Sunday as Arne Slot\u2019s side lost 3-2 to arch-rivals United at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

The Reds battled back from 2-0 right down to level the match through Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo before Kobbie Mainoo scored a 77th-minute winner for Manchester United.<\/p>\n

United\u2019s victory confirmed their place in next season\u2019s Champions League and all-but secured them third-place within the Premier League with a six-point lead over fourth-placed Liverpool with three games remaining.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the sport, Old Trafford legend Gary Neville suggested Manchester United weren’t distant from difficult for the Premier League title and said it was \u2018up for grabs over the following one or two years\u2019.<\/p>\n

But Carragher dismissed United\u2019s title credentials and in addition ruled Liverpool out of winning the Premier League next season, claiming there can be one other title race between current contenders Arsenal and Manchester City.<\/p>\n

Asked if Liverpool or Manchester United are in a greater position to win the Premier League next yr, Carragher said on The Gary Neville podcast<\/a>: \u2018I still think Liverpool\u00a0are better-placed and the rationale I say that’s\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0seen Man United\u2019s best team on the market today.<\/p>\n

\u2018Liverpool\u00a0are\u00a0three of 4\u00a0short\u00a0there. In addition they have the players who’ve won before by way of the most important trophies.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0think either of them can be there by way of the title\u00a0next season. I still think it’s going to be Arsenal or Manchester City.<\/p>\n

\u2018There\u2019s\u00a0a false economy with Manchester United after they\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0played any European\u00a0football\u00a0they usually went out in the primary round of each cup competitions.<\/p>\n

\u2018Now that may idiot you.\u00a0Man\u00a0United will finish third this season but I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0think for a minute imagine\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0the third-best team within the Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u2018I still think Liverpool\u00a0are in a greater position by way of the squad when the injured players get back and\u00a0having\u00a0those players which have won trophies before.\u2019<\/p>\n

Addressing the identical talking point, Neville said: \u2018There\u2019s a few real unknowns. The managers and which club goes to recruit the most effective this summer.<\/p>\n

\u2018Each are going to sign three or 4. But how much money do the clubs need to spend money on recruitment?<\/p>\n

\u2018I do think the league may very well be up for grabs over the following couple of years and I believe Manchester United may very well be able to use that.<\/p>\n

\u2018In some unspecified time in the future, Pep [Guardiola] has to depart. And I don\u2019t think the opposite big clubs aren\u2019t quite right. There may be a league title as much as grabs over the following one to 2 years.\u2019<\/p>\n

Manchester United return to Premier League motion next weekend against Sunderland, while Liverpool face Chelsea at Anfield.<\/p>\n

Title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City can barely be separated going into the ultimate few weeks of the Premier League season.<\/p>\n

Mikel Arteta\u2019s Gunners beat Fulham 3-0 on Saturday to maneuver six points clear but Man City now have two games in hand, the primary against Everton on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Arsenal are bidding to win their first Premier League since 2004, while Manchester City have won six titles within the last eight years.<\/p>\n
