Gary Neville urged Manchester United to sign 4 players and \u2018trade\u2019 Mason Mount after the Premier League victory over Liverpool.<\/p>\n

United qualified for next season\u2019s Champions League and all-but secured third-place within the Premier League with an exciting 3-2 win over Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Michael Carrick\u2019s side raced right into a two-goal lead with Matheus Cunha opening the scoring and Benjamin Sesko doubling United\u2019s advantage inside quarter-hour.<\/p>\n

A routine home win looked inevitable at that stage but Liverpool rallied after a dismal first-half, bringing the rating level through Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo.<\/p>\n

Old Trafford legend Neville would even be keen for Manchester United to sign a brand new fifth player this summer if it was an upgrade on Mason Mount, who has largely flattered to deceive since his \u00a360m move from Chelsea in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u2018Michael Carrick can be\u00a0very completely happy\u00a0tonight\u00a0but I feel he will even be upset deep down that they\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0gone on to win that game 3-0 or 4-0,\u2019 Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018They need to have killed that game and put Liverpool to sleep because they were nowhere near this football match.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0won the sport and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0crucial\u00a0thing\u00a0but Carrick\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0be fooled by a few of what he saw in that second half.<\/p>\n

\u2018He’ll know he must rebuild the defence and midfield.\u00a0In case you\u2019re going to play 4-4-2, which I’m massively in\u00a0favour\u00a0of United doing, you could have to have two very special players in there and have defenders who can play one-on-one.<\/p>\n

\u2018You\u2019re\u00a0asking plenty of\u00a0the players.\u00a0I feel United\u00a0need\u00a0a left-back for next season because Luke Shaw has played every game this 12 months and he may struggle. They need a centre-back, 100%, and so they need two midfield players.<\/p>\n

\u2018They’re the 4 priorities immediately.\u00a0They\u2019re\u00a0the players I’d take a look at adding to this squad.<\/p>\n

\u2018Look, should you could\u00a0then perhaps\u00a0trade Mason Mount for another person who\u00a0perhaps can\u00a0play out and in and is usually a bit more\u00a0flexible\u00a0across the midfield and forward line then I’d say go for a fifth.<\/p>\n

\u2018But should you\u00a0can\u2019t, I’d say those 4 areas are the\u00a0priority\u00a0and\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0got to be top-notch, those players.\u2019<\/p>\n

It stays to be seen whether Carrick is given the Manchester United job on a everlasting basis following his sensible impact at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
