Awarapan<\/em> (2007) underperformed on the box office during its theatrical run but went on to realize cult status over time, because of its unforgettable soundtrack, touching storyline, memorable dramatic and motion moments and, after all, Emraan Hashmi in an intense, never-seen-before avatar. Because of this, the trade and industry are confident in regards to the prospects of Awarapan 2<\/em>. Last week, among the biggest distributors within the Hindi film industry were seen on the Vishesh Movies office, keen to amass the film\u2019s all-India theatrical rights.<\/p>\n

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama<\/strong>, \u201cYou name it and that distributor was seen on the Vishesh Movies office last week \u2013 be it Zee Studios, Anil Thadani\u2019s AA Movies, Pen Marudhar, Jio Studios, Star Studio18, Cinepolis, etc. That\u2019s not all. Dharma Productions, which now has its own distribution arm, also met Mukesh Bhatt. Lastly, Ananya Birla\u2019s Birla Studios plans to not only produce but additionally distribute movies in the longer term. Their representative also dropped by.\u201d<\/p>\n
An industry insider commented, \u201cEk zamaane mein hota tha<\/em> that distributors would make a beeline and fiercely attempt to outdo one another to amass the rights of a promising film. This episode jogged my memory of those days. It clearly shows that Awarapan 2<\/em> will likely be a movie to observe out for. The primary part has tremendous recall value. Memes are already being shared online about how fans are waiting to see the second part. As they are saying in our line, picture ekdum garam hai<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trade source further said, \u201cMukesh Bhatt is kind of overwhelmed by the response. He met all of the distributors warmly. Now, he and his team are analysing the offers and are expected to make a choice soon. Once that is completed, the makers will announce the name of the distributor who won the competitive bid.\u201d<\/p>\n
Besides Emraan Hashmi, Awarapan<\/em>\u2019s first part also starred Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, Ashutosh Rana, Ashish Vidyarthi, Shaad Randhawa, Salil Acharya, Purab Kohli and the late Atul Parchure. Mohit Suri directed the love saga while its evergreen songs were composed by Pritam Chakraborty.<\/p>\n
As for Awarapan 2<\/em>, it’s directed by Nitin Kakkar of Filmistaan<\/em> (2014) and Notebook<\/em> (2019) fame. This time, Emraan is joined by Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. It releases in cinemas on August 14.<\/p>\n
