An explosion at a\u00a0fireworks plant in a central\u00a0Chinese\u00a0province killed a minimum of 26 people and injured 61 others.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s official news agency said the blast occurred at a\u00a0fireworks plant in Changsha, Hunan province, on Monday afternoon. <\/p>\n

Changsha mayor Chen Bozhang said search and rescue on the scene has been accomplished, but verification of the casualties and identification of the victims are still underway.<\/p>\n

Aerial footage showed white smoke billowing in certain areas of the positioning, with facilities collapsed and damaged.<\/p>\n

Nearly 500 rescuers were deployed to the scene, and other people in peril zones were evacuated by authorities, citing high risks posed by two black powder warehouses at the positioning, the report said.<\/p>\n

Authorities were investigating the explanation for the blast but had taken \u2018control measures\u2019 against those in control of the corporate, it said, without specifying the measures.<\/p>\n

Chinese\u00a0President Xi Jinping urged all-out efforts to go looking for people who find themselves still unaccounted for and save the injured.<\/p>\n
