{"id":329634,"date":"2026-05-05T16:39:44","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T11:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebiztoday.news\/?p=329634"},"modified":"2026-05-05T16:39:44","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T11:09:44","slug":"more-women-accuse-ex-congressman-eric-swalwell-of-misconduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebiztoday.news\/index.php\/2026\/05\/05\/more-women-accuse-ex-congressman-eric-swalwell-of-misconduct\/","title":{"rendered":"More Women Accuse Ex-Congressman Eric Swalwell of Misconduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Greater than a dozen women have come forward with misconduct allegations against former California Representative <strong>Eric Swalwell<\/strong> following his resignation from Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Quite a few women spoke to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/05\/04\/us\/eric-swalwell-uncomfortable-interactions-women-invs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> about alleged interactions \u2014 each in-person and via social media \u2014 where the married former congressman, 45, made them feel uncomfortable. Some accused Swalwell of exhibiting \u201cJekyll and Hyde\u201d behavior, where he publicly championed victims of abuse while sometimes acting inappropriately behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p>These latest allegations date back to Swalwell\u2019s college years at Campbell University in North Carolina, where he once published a poem where he bragged, \u201cShe chased and I ran\/ I chased and he or she ran \/ My anxious arm she bit \u2013 my scar is gorgeous\/ While I screamed\/ She bent her lips to mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Swalwell] categorically denies being crude toward women during his college years nearly three a long time ago,\u201d his attorney told CNN. \u201c[The poem] is plainly a teenage metaphor about drinking \u2014 not sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"link-related article link-related__with-thumb\">\n<figure class=\"article__figure\">\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:56.25%;\" class=\"ratio-based-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<div class=\"article__content\">\n<h3 class=\"article__title\">\n<p>    <span class=\"related-badge\">Related: <\/span><span class=\"related-title\">Eric Swalwell&#8217;s Staff React to Allegations, Explain Why They Can\u2019t Quit<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t\tCongressman Eric Swalwell\u2019s senior staff have said they&#8217;re \u201chorrified\u201d by sexual misconduct allegations made against him. \u201cAs leaders of teams working for Eric Swalwell, we\u2019re horrified by the recent reporting within the San Francisco Chronicle and by CNN,\u201d a press release signed by staffers for Swalwell\u2019s 14th congressional district and the \u201cEric Swalwell for Governor [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Swalwell\u2019s alleged troubling behavior continued into his early political profession where he reportedly held congressional meetings at a Hooters restaurant in 2012. (His attorney told CNN that Swalwell\u2019s decision to \u201coccasionally [take] a gathering at an off-the-cuff chain restaurant\u201d was not newsworthy.)<\/p>\n<p>Multiple women alleged that Swalwell used Snapchat to send them overly flirty messages through the years although he was married. (Swalwell has been married to his wife, <strong>Brittany Watts<\/strong>, since 2016 they usually share three children.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heather Purcell<\/strong> told the outlet that Swalwell \u201cchecked out [her] up and down in a way that made [her] feel uneasy\u201d and touched her shoulder after they met on the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Swalwell allegedly gave Purcell his personal phone number once they reconnected months later. (Purcell said that she never called Swalwell they usually never interacted again.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I had] a gut feeling that the facility dynamic didn&#8217;t feel right to me \u2014 that he was just trying to have interaction in a private relationship when it must have been skilled,\u201d Purcell said.<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell\u2019s lawyer described the politician\u2019s interactions with Purcell as \u201croutine and non-contentious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An unnamed woman alleged that Swalwell once took her bag during a non-public meeting at a bar and walked to an elevator, seemingly to persuade her to come back to his hotel room. The lady recalled riding with Swalwell to his floor before snatching her bag back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018How dare you disrespect me like that,\u2019\u201d the girl said. \u201cWhen the elevator was closing, he stood there with a glance of shock on his face. \u2026 If it was anyone else, I\u2019d be screaming and calling security. Per the staffer, they exchanged explicit videos and photos throughout their consensual relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis stories can be his, like, congressional content, but then he can be sending me d*** pics,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell\u2019s lawyer told the outlet, \u201cThere was no supervisory or skilled relationship and, accordingly, no power imbalance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Washington D.C. real estate agent <strong>Sanam Vivansia<\/strong> said she exchanged flirty messages with Swalwell after meeting in 2021 and he later asked her to come back back to his hotel room after they later met in person in San Francisco. Eric Swalwell of sexual assault and harassment has responded to the congressman\u2019s video denying the allegations. \u201cMy wife\u2019s name is Ally Sammarco. Obviously you understand that, but she\u2019s not named anonymous,\u201d Adam Parkhomenko, a Democratic strategist and former DNC National Field Director, wrote via [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Multiple women got here forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Swalwell in April. A former staffer at his Castro Valley, California, district office told the <em>San Francisco Chronicle<\/em> that the politician Swalwell once propositioned her for oral sex and later invited her out for a drink, where she later \u201cblacked out\u201d and allegedly woke up naked in Swalwell\u2019s hotel bed, at which era she allegedly felt that he\u2019d initiated vaginal intercourse.<\/p>\n<p>Content creator <strong>Ally Sammarco<\/strong> alleged that Swalwell offered to \u201cshare her resume\u201d together with his contacts before sending her \u201cvery inappropriate\u201d Snapchat messages. Other women who made misconduct allegations on the time selected to remain anonymous out of fear of retribution.<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell was a frontrunner within the California gubernatorial race when the scandal broke out. The congressman\u2019s initial response to the controversy was to say that \u201cthe allegations of sexual assault are flat false\u201d on April 11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey&#8217;re absolutely false. They didn&#8217;t occur. They&#8217;ve never happened. And I&#8217;ll fight them with every little thing I actually have,\u201d Swalwell said in a press release on the time. \u201cAdditionally they come on the eve of an election, where I actually have been the frontrunner candidate for governor of California.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on, \u201cI don&#8217;t suggest to you in any way that I&#8217;m perfect or that I\u2019m a saint \u2014 I actually have actually made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife. Nevertheless, I need to take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The California representative went on, \u201cI&#8217;m aware of efforts to bring a direct expulsion vote against me and other members. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, inside days of an allegation being made, is mistaken. Nevertheless it\u2019s also mistaken for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Subsequently I plan to resign my seat in Congress.
