The Latest Day was a beloved group \u2014 up until their heel turn \u2014 and it seems they were loved by their peers in WWE, too, with Kevin Owens recently paying tribute to them following their WWE release.<\/p>\n

The post by Owens was made in reply to Kingston’s post on X following his WWE exit, with Owens first praising Kingston after which acknowledging his tag team partner, Xavier Woods.<\/p>\n

“Improbable wrestler and an excellent higher human being. Same could be said for Woods.\u00a0Thanks guys for allowing me to hitch you guys for that one week…and seriously, I’m so sorry for turning on you,” said Owens.<\/p>\n

Owens was an honorary member of the group for a transient period in 2019 before he turned on them, organising a title clash with the then-WWE Champion, Kingston.<\/p>\n

Kingston and Woods, the last two members of The Latest Day, were shockingly released by WWE despite being probably the most decorated tag teams within the promotion’s history. Reports have since emerged that the releases were a mutual decision. The duo reportedly cannot use The Latest Day or their WWE ring names after they feature in other promotions after their 90-day non-compete clause involves an end. WWE’s owners, TKO, have reportedly asked its talent to take pay cuts, some as high as 50%, which may very well be the explanation why The Latest Day has left.<\/p>\n

WWE recently let go of several wrestlers, in addition to just a few production staff, certainly one of whom was in the corporate for 25 years.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/article><\/div>\n
