A teenage tourist plunged to her death from a cliff swing in China after raising concerns about her safety harness.<\/p>\n
The accident happened on the Maliuyan Waterfall in\u00a0Huayin, southwestern China, on May 3. <\/p>\n
The 16-year-old tourist, identified only by her surname Liu, was strapped right into a harness as staff prepared to send her out over the gorge.<\/p>\n
Excited friends were heard talking and laughing as Liu, with a cloth draped behind her like a cape, was moved towards the sting of the platform.<\/p>\n
But Liu was heard shouting several times that the rope was \u2018not tight enough\u2019 before she left the secure area.<\/p>\n
Moments later, as she was pushed out over the drop, she suddenly slipped down a number of inches as if something had come loose.<\/p>\n

One person on the platform might be seen reaching towards her, but Liu then plunged into the gorge below.<\/p>\n
Local reports said the security rope snapped as soon as she left the platform, sending her falling onto the cliff face.<\/p>\n
Liu survived the initial fall but died on her approach to the hospital, in response to local media. The cliff swing was reportedly being operated by an outside adventure company identified as Chongqing Adventure Camp.<\/p>\n
The corporate had promoted the attraction on its WeChat public account back in March.<\/p>\n
Officials have since closed the scenic area for rectification and launched an investigation.<\/p>\n
Local authorities have preliminarily classified the incident as a production safety responsibility accident.<\/p>\n
The park announced it will remain shut until May 10 for equipment inspection and maintenance.<\/p>\n
A staff member for the operator said the corporate was in touch with Liu\u2019s family and was cooperating with the authorities.<\/p>\n
The accident became one in every of the highest trending topics on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, where users criticised the operators for allegedly ignoring Liu\u2019s warnings.<\/p>\n
One user said: \u2018They disregarded human life. <\/p>\n
\u2018A small oversight has taken away the long run of this young girl.\u2019<\/p>\n
