George Groves says Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua should finally meet at Wembley Stadium as a substitute of overseas when their long-awaited heavyweight fight takes place later this 12 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to see it at Wembley,\u201d Groves told Sky Sports<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s the house of British boxing on that scale. It\u2019s the house of sport in Britain.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fury and Joshua are expected to fight before the top of 2026, though neither the date nor venue has officially been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia has commonly been mentioned as a possible destination for the fight due to Turki Alalshikh\u2019s involvement in heavyweight boxing, but Groves believes the occasion belongs in Britain.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d be disillusioned if it was abroad,\u201d Groves said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s lovely to box in Saudi Arabia, it\u2019s lovely to box in Vegas or Latest York or Dublin or wherever else they\u2019re talking about. But two Brits, they may look back and say: \u2018I\u2019m so glad I boxed at Wembley Stadium.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Groves fought Carl Froch in front of greater than 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in 2014, one among the primary major British stadium fights of the trendy era.<\/p>\n

Each Fury and Joshua have since headlined separate heavyweight title events at Wembley.<\/p>\n

Joshua is predicted to return in July against Kristian Prenga, while Fury has also discussed taking one other fight before facing Joshua later this 12 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have really invested on this fight,\u201d Groves said. \u201cThey\u2019ve waited this long, they\u2019ll wait a bit bit longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we do need to see them fight. We’re excited to see these two guys box.\u201d<\/p>\n
