The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers had talked about Darnell Nurse and Nic Roy<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Zach Laing of Oilers Nation<\/strong><\/a>: David Pagnotta, on OilersNation On a regular basis, said that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers talked a few trade involving defenseman Darnell Nurse and now Colorado Avalanche forward Nic Roy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe touched on this after the trade deadline. I\u2019ve mentioned it a number of times. Nurse\u2019s name was on the market the week of the deadline. They offered him as much as at the very least one team; that team said no, that team now has a brand new general manager.<\/p>\n

That team probably won\u2019t go in that direction. They didn\u2019t wish to go in that direction before with the previous guy. I can\u2019t imagine latest guy wanting to do this. One among the opposite pieces, a part of that deal that Edmonton was , from what I used to be told, he\u2019s on Colorado immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cEdmonton spoke to Toronto ahead of the deadline to attempt to make that occur. Obviously, it didn\u2019t. And it was really that close on the time, from what I used to be told. His name was circulating. They spoke to the Leafs; that didn\u2019t occur. We\u2019ll see where that sort of goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pagnotta added that the Oilers wouldn\u2019t be freeing up Darnell Nurse\u2019s $9.25 million, but lessening the quantity and freeing up some flexibility.<\/p>\n

The fee for the San Jose Sharks first-round pick went up, and picking the perfect player available<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Max Miller of the Sharks Hockey Digest<\/strong><\/a>: The San Jose Sharks moved up from No. 9 to No. 2 within the draft. Gavin McKenna and Ivar Stenberg appear to be the consensus top two picks. Sharks GM Mike Grier said during their exit interviews that he\u2019d be open to trading their first-round pick, but that was back when it was at No. 9. He\u2019d listen now, but the value is clearly much higher now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m all the time open to listening to what\u2019s on the market, and if people have ideas or thoughts, I\u2019ll listen. We\u2019ll sort of go from there,\u201d Grier said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it makes it unlikely, however it\u2019s obviously a distinct price tag trading the ninth pick. That\u2019s\u00a0probably what the\u00a0a part of the equation that changes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sharks are in need of a top-flight defenseman, but Grier said that they\u2019ll pick the perfect player available.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile you\u2019re picking at the highest of the draft, we all the time attempt to go together with the perfect player available. Really, I don\u2019t think we\u2019re gonna pass if there\u2019s a giant gap between two players or two positions. We\u2019re not going to, you understand, take a player only for need in that situation,\u201d Grier said. \u201cWe got to do our homework. We got to dig into it. Most certainly we\u2019ll take who we feel is the perfect fit and the perfect player available.\u201d<\/p>\n
