The Edmonton Oilers Have Major Decisions Coming This Offseason<\/h2>\n

On the May ninth edition of TFP Hotstove on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio with Dave Pagnotta, Dennis Bernstein, and Ryan Paton, they discuss the changes coming to the Edmonton Oilers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dennis Bernstein: \u201cYou’re thinking that they\u2019re changing coaches in Edmonton.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ryan Paton: \u201cI used to be going to get to that he\u2019s because he\u2019s going into it the primary 12 months of a brand new contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dave Pagnotta: \u201cHe’s, and I don\u2019t think Daryl Katz gives a crap. I believe the owner is ticked off at how things have gone this season. Though we sort of knew what we, and I do know we talked about this on the show all season, that we expected some regression from the Oilers. I don\u2019t think all of us expected a primary round but\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernstein: \u201cI expect Connor McDavid to speak. To call his team average.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pagnotta: \u201cRight? There shall be lots of changes to the Oilers now. I believe they’re considering a training change. I imagine there shall be some additional changes off the ice to this team over the following two months. They\u2019re definitely talking about it. They\u2019re fascinated about it. They\u2019re evaluating their situation. After which they got roster decisions to make.<\/p>\n

Are they going to go after Jordan Binnington? Are they going to go after Filip Gustavsson, who\u2019s got a full no-move? Are they going to go after Connor Hellebuyck, who\u2019s got a full no-move? I can\u2019t imagine the (Winnipeg) Jets would want to try this to Edmonton. But goaltending aside, they got to shore up the blue line. Darnell Nurse\u2018s name is and was on the market ahead of the deadline. It’s going to be on the market again this offseason. They’ve to search out a top-line winger, which appears to be a priority.\u201d<\/p>\n

NHL Rumors: What Will Occur to Edmonton Oilers Coach Kris Knoblauch?<\/p>\n

Paton: \u201cKeep going, and that\u2019s a protracted list, Dave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernstein: \u201cThere are holes on the team. There are lots of holes on the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pagnotta: \u201cThird line center. Are they gonna keep (Jason) Dickinson or usher in any individual else? They got to shore up the fourth line. Michael McCarron could be great for that. Like, I mean, he\u2019s in Minny (Minnesota) without delay, but that calibre player would work for the fourth line of the Oilers. There\u2019s lots of freaking work that should be done there.\u201d<\/p>\n

NHLRumors.com Note:<\/strong> The Edmonton Oilers<\/a> have lots of work to do that off-season. GM Stan Bowman is on the clock with Connor McDavid. He has to make up for past mistakes. And it shouldn’t be just Bowman; it was prior management and CEO Jeff Jackson as well. This roster is poorly constructed.<\/p>\n

There are lots of holes to fill, and Bowman hopes to maintain Jason Dickinson and Connor Murphy. He\u2019d higher consider what he gave up for them. Nevertheless, until the Oilers start playing team defence, they shall be strong. Doesn\u2019t matter who the goalie or coach is. The players must buy into whatever system they’re playing.<\/p>\n
