Gary Neville believes Arsenal defender Ben White was \u2018asking for trouble\u2019 by making a \u2018weak\u2019 challenge that led to a worrying injury that might rule him out for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

White went down in pain following a clash with West Ham\u2019s Crysencio Summerville in the primary half of Arsenal\u2019s huge win on the London Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old, who has regained his place within the team in recent weeks following a frustrating season, immediately looked concerned and shortly hobbled off assisted by of considered one of Arsenal\u2019s medical staff.<\/p>\n

Mikel Arteta was unable to present a transparent update on White\u2019s injury after the sport but suggested he was a doubt for Arsenal\u2019s final two Premier League fixtures and the Champions League final at the tip of the month.<\/p>\n

\u2018We don\u2019t know, but he doesn\u2019t look good in any respect,\u2019 a concerned Arteta said. \u2018So he needs some further testing tomorrow probably and I do know a bit more.\u2019<\/p>\n

If serious, the injury could even rule White out of this summer\u2019s World Cup just weeks after his England recall under Thomas Tuchel.<\/p>\n

Neville said he \u2018hopes\u2019 it doesn’t come to that but suggested White needed to shoulder among the blame for the injury given his \u2018pretty weak\u2019 challenge.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sky Sports<\/a> commentary after White\u2019s injury, Neville said: \u2018Ben White just hangs his leg there. It\u2019s poor from the right-back.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s\u00a0up against Summerville;\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0got to be stronger than that.\u00a0He\u2019s hurt\u00a0himself there.<\/p>\n

\u2018That\u2019s\u00a0easily prevented when you go in strong and with an actual sturdy block. He\u2019s hung his leg out in pretty weak fashion, you\u2019re asking for trouble.\u2019<\/p>\n

Speaking after the sport, Neville revealed he had suffered an analogous injury in training during his Manchester United profession.<\/p>\n

\u2018Ben White hangs his leg\u00a0out\u00a0and I\u2019ve actually done what he did,\u2019 he said on The Gary Neville podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018I did it in training, I went out for a drink on\u00a0the Saturday\u00a0night, which I never did but we\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0have a game for ten days. I actually did my medial ligament in training on\u00a0the Monday\u00a0morning.<\/p>\n

\u2018I went in for a challenge like how Ben White did. For those who go in for a tackle and just hang your leg out away out of your body like that, you’re going to get that rock of your knee.<\/p>\n

\u2018You might have to go in strong and really block with\u00a0power because when you just hang your leg out you\u2019ve got an excellent likelihood of doing all your medial ligament.<\/p>\n

\u2018Ben White will regret that because that might see him out of the World Cup. We\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know, we\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0got the diagnosis yet, but\u00a0they\u00a0will be 4 to six-week injuries which might obviously be an enormous problem for Ben White when it comes to the World Cup and the Champions League final.<\/p>\n

\u2018Let\u2019s\u00a0hope\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not that\u00a0bad\u00a0but that sort of injury comes from that challenge.\u2019<\/p>\n

White\u2019s injury was the one real blemish from an Arsenal standpoint as they clinched a dramatic 1-0 win over West Ham to maneuver a step closer to winning the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Leandro Trossard\u2019s late goal broke the deadlock on the London Stadium and West Ham had an injury-time equaliser ruled out following a VAR check.<\/p>\n

Arsenal are five points clear of second-placed Manchester City while West Ham\u2019s defeat means they sunk ever closer to relegation.<\/p>\n
