US President Donald Trump said the\u00a0Iran\u00a0ceasefire is on \u2018life support\u2019 after he rejected Tehran\u2019s latest proposal to finish the 2 countries\u2019 ongoing conflict.<\/p>\n
Officials said the proposal included some concessions on\u00a0Iran\u2019s disputed nuclear programme, but Trump dismissed it as \u2018garbage\u2019. <\/p>\n
The stalled talks and up to date exchanges of fireplace could tip the Middle East back into open warfare and lengthen the energy crisis.<\/p>\n
Iran still has a chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, and America\u2019s blockade of\u00a0Iranian ports remains to be in place.<\/p>\n

Ending the blockade before discussing\u00a0Iran\u2019s nuclear programme would eliminate a serious point of leverage for Trump. <\/p>\n
Within the meantime, the standoff over the Strait, which is a key transit point for the world\u2019s oil and natural gas exports, has sent fuel prices skyrocketing and rattled world markets. <\/p>\n
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who launched the war with Trump on February 28, has kept insisting that the conflict was \u2018not over\u2019.<\/p>\n
The US and Israel have killed dozens of high-ranking\u00a0Iranian officials, including the country\u2019s supreme leader, within the opening salvos of the war, and the conflict has inflicted heavy damage to\u00a0Iran\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s proposal asked that the US recognise its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Iran\u00a0has effectively closed the Strait because the start of the war, allowing only a small variety of ships to pass and charging tolls. <\/p>\n
But experts say such an arrangement would likely violate international law that gives for freedom of navigation. <\/p>\n
That proposal can also be more likely to be widely rejected by the international community, because the strait was open to international traffic before the war. <\/p>\n
Iran\u00a0can also be demanding war reparations from the US, the lifting of international sanctions, the unfreezing of\u00a0Iranian assets held abroad, and an end to the war between Israel and Lebanon\u2019s\u00a0Iran-backed Hezbollah, based on\u00a0Iranian state TV.<\/p>\n
Israel and Hezbollah have continued to exchange blows, mainly in southern Lebanon, since a nominal ceasefire took hold last month. <\/p>\n
