MANILA, Philippines \u2014 The La Salle trio Angel Canino, Amie Provido, and Shevana Laput begged off from the Alas Pilipinas training pool ahead of the AVC Women\u2019s Cup from June 6 to 14 in Candon City.<\/p>\n

Canino on Thursday posted a press release on behalf their three players, saying they’re skipping the national team call-up resulting from a grueling UAAP Season 88, which was swept by La Salle for an ideal 16-0 record.<\/p>\n

The previous UAAP Rookie MVP still wished the perfect for the Alas program, despite being the newest core member to bow out together with Jia De Guzman, Bella Belen, Alyssa Solomon, and the players from the last two years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve communicated this to the PNVF and while we won\u2019t be on the court this time, our hearts are with the team as they compete within the AVC Women\u2019s Cup 2026,\u201d Canino said.<\/p>\n

Canino was a part of Alas Pilipinas\u2019 side that finished bronze within the Women\u2019s Cup in 2024, where she emerged because the Best Opposite Spiker, despite playing in a unique position in her first stint with the national team.<\/p>\n

Back in her natural position, Canino emerged as AVC Best Outside Spiker last 12 months and led Alas to the finals before losing to Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Canino and Provido also each played within the thirty third Southeast Asian Games, while Laput has been under the Alas radar for the past two years.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
