roommates as a part of a decade-long conservation partnership between U.S. and Chinese zoos, announced ahead of President Donald Trump\u2019s recent visit to China.<\/p>\n<p>Male panda Ping Ping and feminine panda Fu Shuang will fly from their current home in Chengdu, China, to a different panda sanctuary before completing an 8,000-mile journey to the U.S., where they are going to shack up at Zoo however the partnership between Zoo Atlanta and the China Wildlife Conservation Association follows a successful 25-year conservation agreement that led to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The initial announcement got King, president and CEO, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/zooatlanta.org\/two-new-giant-pandas-are-expected-to-arrive-at-zoo-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an announcement<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are able to\u2019t wait to satisfy Ping Ping and Fu Shuang and to welcome our members, guests, city, and community back to the wonder and joy of giant pandas,\u201d King continued.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/zooatlanta.org\/two-new-giant-pandas-are-expected-to-arrive-at-zoo-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Georgia-based Zoo<\/a> has a robust track record in panda conservation, with seven offspring born to a different pair of Chinese pandas, Lun Lun and Yang Yang, between 2006 and 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Their two youngest cubs, Ya Lun and Xi Lun, left Atlanta for the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in October 2024; the pair\u2019s first five offspring also live there.<\/p>\n<p>Giant pandas are found only within the wild in China, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwf.panda.org\/discover\/our_focus\/wildlife_practice\/profiles\/mammals\/giant_panda\/panda\/where_panda_lives_habitat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in response to the WWF<\/a>, and the country fastidiously controls where it distributes the species, often lending pandas to other nations while retaining ownership, even of those born internationally.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below commercial<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In 2024, it sent two giant pandas to San Diego and two others to the Smithsonian\u2019s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/world\/china\/pandas-set-8000-mile-blind-date-atlanta-rcna344673\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-tabs\">\n<p>\n\t\t\t<button role=\"tab\" class=\"c-tabs__tab c-tabs__tab--active\" type=\"button\">More on Trending<\/button><br \/>\n\t\t\t<button role=\"tab\" class=\"c-tabs__tab\" type=\"button\">More videos<\/button>\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The species faces quite a few threats to its survival, namely habitat loss.
