4 major areas the Toronto Maple Leafs need to deal with<\/strong><\/h2>\n

James Mirtle of The Athletic<\/strong><\/a>: Other than finding a brand new head coach, GM John Chayka has holes he must fill within the Toronto Maple Leafs roster. The offseason shopping list should include the next, and never be limited to.<\/p>\n

\u2022 A No. 1 defenseman who can move the puck and QB the ability play<\/p>\n

\u2022 One other top-six forward, ideally to play with Matthews<\/p>\n

\u2022 One other minute-eating center that may handle difficult minutes<\/p>\n

\u2022 Improved depth at mainly every position, perhaps apart from in goal<\/p>\n

The Leafs lack draft picks, prospects, and roster players which have value, so filling out the shopping list won\u2019t be easy.<\/p>\n

Darnell Nurse, Morgan Rielly and Brandon Carlo may very well be on the move this offseason<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Day by day Faceoff<\/a><\/strong>: David Pagnotta, on the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers seeking to retool their blue line. The 2 teams talked before the trade deadline. Do they revisit those talks, or do they appear elsewhere? The Maple Leafs could take a look at moving each Morgan Rielly, and the Oilers could look to maneuver Darnell Nurse. Would the San Jose Sharks be focused on Nurse?<\/p>\n

Pagnotta: \u201cBut the first pieces on the time before the trade deadline, the week of, was Darnell Nurse in a deal that involved Morgan Rielly and Nick Roy.<\/p>\n

Now, Roy, that didn\u2019t occur. Roy ended up going to Colorado for a first-round pick. Toronto said no. I consider Edmonton circled back. Toronto said no again. Does that change now? Does Edmonton circle back on that?<\/p>\n

I believe for, I believe there will probably be more conversations involving Morgan Rielly. Considered one of the things that John Chaika had said in his opening press conference was that reshaping or retooling, or whatever, I\u2019m paraphrasing, fixing the blue line is a priority. In order that involves the potential move of Morgan Riley, ignore who else they\u2019re potentially bringing in.<\/p>\n

That might also involve moving out Brandon Carlo also. So we\u2019ll see sort of where that goes.<\/p>\n
