Jack Catterall says his upcoming welterweight title fight against Shakhram Giyasov was not something he expected to land this quickly, even with the division opening up around him after his move to 147.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis fight can have come out of the blue, really. But what a chance for only one focus to get this title. Camp\u2019s been good. Good sparring, good work within the gym, strength, track, every little thing. We puzzled it together good,\u201d said Catterall to Matchroom Boxing, discussing his call to fight Shakhram Giyasov on the May twenty third card.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a bit over every week and a half now before we fly over to Egypt. It is a big opportunity for me within the WBA regular world title. Very grateful for the chance, but additionally super confident going on the market and securing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Catterall and Giyasov will fight for the vacant WBA \u2018regular\u2019 welterweight title this Saturday on the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on the Oleksandr Usyk-Rico Verhoeven card.<\/p>\n

Catterall also admitted he didn’t know much about Giyasov before the fight was finalized, but says his team has frolicked studying the unbeaten Uzbek contender during camp.<\/p>\n

\u201cShaka [Shakhram], unfortunately, has fought six southpaws. So there\u2019s loads of footage of him fighting southpaws,\u201d said Catterall. \u201cI wasn\u2019t overly aware of him up until the fight was announced, but we\u2019ve had time now to go away, watch, and work on what we’d like to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The previous light welterweight contender believes the beyond regular time at welterweight has helped him physically after years of adverse weight cuts at 140.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had time now. It\u2019s been coming up for a 12 months, so I\u2019ve had time to enter it and do things right. Be strong at the load,\u201d said Catterall.<\/p>\n
