Hayden Panettiere<\/strong> detailed the primary time ex-boyfriend Brian Hickerson<\/strong> got physical in her debut memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hear it before I feel it, the unmistakable sound of an open-hand slap,\u201d Panettiere, 36, wrote within the book, released on Tuesday, May 19. \u201cThere\u2019s the burning on my cheek, like I\u2019m on fire. There\u2019s ringing in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the incident, Panettiere wrote that Hickerson was screaming in her face. The actress claimed it was rage \u201clike I\u2019ve never seen before.\u201d Panettiere grabbed a pairing knife nearby, but threw it to the side before he hit her.<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of it happened, no less than for me. If I give it some thought, it\u2019s real. Nevertheless it wasn\u2019t real,\u201d Panettiere wrote. \u201cI can play tough and can it away and it\u2019s gone. Buck it up, then wipe it off the whiteboard and delete it from the tapes. I like this man and this wasn\u2019t him. It couldn\u2019t have been him, not in 1,000,000 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following that first incident, \u201cthe slaps turn into hits,\u201d Panettiere wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne night he busts up my face so badly I don\u2019t leave the home for weeks. One other day he screams at me to run so far as I can in five seconds because I\u2019ll need a head start before he throws the handheld remote control at me,\u201d she claimed. \u201cThis can be a man who doesn\u2019t miss, I believe. And he doesn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere and Hickerson were first linked in 2018. He was arrested the next yr following an alleged domestic violence incident against the actress. Hickerson was charged with felony domestic violence and was ordered to steer clear of Panettiere. Those charges were eventually dropped.<\/p>\n

He was arrested again in 2020 after one other domestic violence altercation against Panettiere. Hickerson ultimately served 33 days in prison, was placed on 4 years probation and ordered to pay a $500 fantastic.<\/p>\n

Panettiere wrote that her family and friends were concerned that she was \u201cin a dangerous situation\u201d during her relationship with Hickerson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I never told them was that the abuse I\u2019d endured didn\u2019t feel as bad because the considered being alone,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Hickerson told TMZ ahead of the book\u2019s release that he and Panettiere have \u201ca mutual respect thing\u201d now. \u201cWe\u2019re just good buddies,\u201d he added, calling This Is Me an \u201cincredible\u201d read. Nonetheless, Hickerson did admit that there was one story he asked Panettiere not to incorporate in her book.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a story where I used to be drunk,\u201d he recalled. \u201cHayden was standing across and I had a phone in my hand and I said, \u2018I\u2019ll offer you 10 seconds to run as fast as you possibly can before I throw it at you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere reflected on her relationship with Hickerson in her Us Weekly<\/em> cover story, published earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was brutal. It was traumatic. It was emotional. It was essential for me to word that have properly,\u201d she said. \u201cI needed to consider that it happened for a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n
